Direct download available?

Is there a direct download available for 3.0? I don't have my iTunes library with me (on an external drive) and was hoping to download the update while at the office so I don't have to wait for it later this evening.

OK, getting ready to update, but when I option-click the restore (or update) I get the finder window to select the file, but I am not able to select anything to begin the restore. I tried pointing to both the .zip file and any file in the unarchived directory. I can't select anything.

Personally, I'd wait til you get home. Right now, everyone is hammering the servers and you could end up with all kinds of issues.

That's fine, and I agree with you, but it doesn't really answer my question. If I do the update now or 5 hours from now, I am still not able to select anything from the 3.0 update file that I already downloaded to my desktop in order to update my iPhone.

You sure you're trying to select the .ipsw file right?

When I downloaded, there was no zip file, and the links I posted earlier are not links to any zip file.

I have the same problem as MLadd....the download file types are not being accepted by the dialog box that follows opt click....it just browses the folders but won't let you select the install files.

I just found the problem....the zip tag at the end is blocking you. Get the file with the .zip at the end somewhere on your computer - then manually remove the .zip extension. That leaves you with the .ipsw that iTunes is looking for.

You are probably a dev like me - this mostly happened to us.

What do you mean by manually removing the .zip extension? The file has .ipsw at the end of it's name, and it still opens as a zip file.
