3.0 Notes Sync

I click on the checkbox... hit apply... phone starts to sync.... finishes sync... box become unchecked and none of the notes from the iPhone are in macMail.

Thoughts? Is this a "stop using the gen1 iPhone and buy a new one" kinda thing?

I fought with this for two hours and finally got my Notes to sync --

I followed the outline above about rebooting iTunes, etc....

BUT -- you also have to totally reboot your Mac as well -- don't just reboot the iTunes program -- you have to completely reboot your iPhone and completely reboot your Mac as well --

THEN the sync started to work ok.

I, as others, think the Sync to Mail is ridiculous -- but I'll take it over nothing!

Notes has always been in mail as are the "to do" lists (I guess 3.0 doesn't even attempt to sync the to do lists). I have notes on both my mac and different ones on my ipod and have been waiting for the day when I would have all of them in both places but no luck- mine says "couldn't sync with ipod because ipod disconnected" (which it wasn't). I have tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked. Now my notes on my ipod are all messed up and the app crashes!!

Help!

Try syncing your iPhone -- then uncheck the Sync Notes box on the info Tab. Sync again. Then recheck the Sync Notes box on the info Tab and sync a third time.

Did that work?

Next problem solving step would be similar but involve more rebooting --

Sync your iPhone, then uncheck the Sync Notes box. Sync Again. Eject your iPhone. REboot your iPhone totally. Reboot your Mac totally. WHen everything is back up and running Re-sync your iPhone. After it resync's now go back and check the Sync Notes box and resync again.

Did that work?

Like I said, I fiddled with this for two hours yesterday, and found that a complete reboot of the mac and a complete reboot of the iPhone is necessary to get the Notes sync to function properly -- but I haven't had any sync problems since, and its working in both directions.

Shadowrider, the iPhone notes sync to Mail.app. I'm not sure whether the folder structure is the same for everyone, but in my case they're under:

Mail.app > Reminders > Notes > On My Mac

By the way, since Apple decided that my rant that I linked to above was a "feature request" and deleted it, I rephrased it as a question: are there alternative ways to get at the notes than the Mail.app interface?

If you have ideas, please take a look:

Hello and thanks for the quick response. I was able to find them and noticed that they sync across all my macs which is kind of nice. I have been using Entourage for years but I guess I will give mail a try. The only think I will miss are the keyboard shortcuts that you can set up in Entourage. If you could do that in Mail it would be great.

Again thanks for the help.
