iPhone activation server temporarily unavailable

Hi all, on a website soft tailor or whatever it is they are saying once its extracting switch off your wifi. it will skip the server connection thing and jump to updating your OS. working for everyone so far folks.

Just keep trying it works.

Same problem in Mexico City, so this is global, There is one thing that worries me... This "Iphone activation server" is a new thing? I didn't notice last time I update to OS 2.2.1, what propose it serves? I mean, if you have your iphone why need a permission to update a free update from a server? I don't get it! Someone care to explain it to me?

my phone keeps getting stuck in the first part of the process and locks up when it's almost finished backing up the phone, anybody having issues like this. Any suggestions on how to fix it.

The little trick of turning off and then plugging in USB doesn't do anything, just lots of retries gets you through.

yup, APPLE is screwing up again with this update! And I heard the picture texting won't work until summer either...what's the point of the update if we can't use anything?

any tips on how to get rid of the emergency call thing and make the phone work again?
All worked fine till I got an error(-9807) ...while it was updating the firmware
Now I can do only emergency calls ...lovely!!!!!

Disconnecting while extracting - brilliant! So glad I checked this thread before giving up in frustration!

You just have to wait chaps unfortunately!! i have kept on hitting the update button for about an hour and it finally worked...!!! good luck!

I was searching this same thing, i have tried to update my phone on three different computers. I found one site that said disconnect your computer from the internet just as the updating process is extracting files...for some reason it bypasses the servers. it worked on my phone.
