NO WIFI OR BLUETOOTH after 3.0 update on my IPhone 3g

So I did the 3.0 update and now my phone does not seem to recognize my wifi and bluetooth. It is as if the hardware is missing. It is not that I cannot connect, it says "No wifi" "No bluetooth" and is greyed out where I cannot click on the setting for either. I have restored like 10 times and nothing. This is very upsetting. Anyone having this problem or have any suggestions for fixing it?
Thanks

Hello guys,
same prob by my girlfirends iphone 3G os 3.01.
But....i have the solution for bluetooth!!!
It's the same as wifi what "Alpay" has posted.
Ok, the negative thing, i don't know which var is the correct one, i have added multiple, maybe anybody can find this out.
i have used the following vars:

setenv bdaddr "00:00:00:00:00:00"
setenv bd_addr "00:00:00:00:00:00"
setenv btaddr "00:00:00:00:00:00"
setenv bluetoothaddr "00:00:00:00:00:00"

Do the same things waht Alpay has posted, after that do a restore with itunes and wifi and bluetooth will work again 😉

Best regards
Chris

Hi lilidav500,

You should write some MAC address into where xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx is written. MAC addresses are constructed from hexadecimal characters (0-9, A, B, C, D, E and F). For example, 01:23:45:67:89:AB:CD is a valid MAC address. You can create yourself a random one and use it instead of xx's.

Cheers,
Alpay

Hi,
I come here just to confirm that apple will change your iphone if you experienced this problem ( wifi & bluetooth greyed out), i bought one a month ago, updated to 3.0 a week later , and then problems arrives...
Tried to restore via iTunes/ iRecovery, also tried to "fix" the mac adress and finally... goes to my service provider that gave me a new iPhone (after 3 days waiting) already updated to 3.0 and every things working now...
Now the phone don't get in high temperature (during charge or use), the battery life is pretty good, and wifi is stable (and not greyed anymore)!!

(sry for my so bad english, i'm a french student :p)

I like how official Apple representatives don't address this in their own support forum. Most likely because they dont want bad publicity about some obscure hardware glitch.

I have tried every avenue, and still have this issue.

Means I have to get a replacement at an apple store.

Isn't it ironic how this thread has no official Apple explanation.....and the community provides answers, and not apple hardware/software engineers.

I just wanted to post that I am having this same issue... my WiFi is not grayed out, but I am unable to see any wireless networks and I am unable to join my Airport network. I really hope that there is a fix released soon... I really want to be able to use my 2G on 3.0!

No Genius Bar up here... plus I'm out of warranty. I've heard of some people downgrading to 2.2.1 and fixing the issue... but I cannot get mine to downgrade to 2.2.1. I guess I'll throw more time at this issue tomorrow... but it has wasted so much of my weekend already that it is frustrating!

I have had strange wifi problems on both phones I updated to 3.0 from 2.21 but Im
certain that Im on wifi in most cases when my phone is showing 3g.I use a great program called ipeng to control my music at home. This app will only work on wifi because you need to connect to your router to change up the music.

Well when I unlock my phone and go to ipeng it connects but my phone still shows 3g and not the wifi icon.I am still able to change the music so I am really connected to my router even though it shows the 3g icon.Strangely enough I tried to make a Skype wifi phone call but it said I could not because I was on 3g when I know i was not.

So I certainly think some people may be on wifi and because it shows 3g they dont think their connected to their router.Interesting enough, the minute I open settings my icon immediately goes from 3g to the wifi icon and not connected goes to "apple wireless" ,the name of my router.

So other then those folks with greyed out wifi,I think your wasting your time getting a replacement phone.I went this route and the minute i updated from 2.21 to 3.0 these issues arose.

Additionally, the wifi signal strength on the icon bounces around alot but I think this may also be wrong.I can get full bars at the same location and then only 1 bar but I think the readings are false when it shows 1 bar.

No question this is a software issue and I can only hope 3.1 will fix this.
Yet excepting those with greyed out wifi, there may not be a problem for everyone else other then you cant tell accurately if your on wifi or 3g.
