NO WIFI OR BLUETOOTH after 3.0 update on my IPhone 3g

So I did the 3.0 update and now my phone does not seem to recognize my wifi and bluetooth. It is as if the hardware is missing. It is not that I cannot connect, it says "No wifi" "No bluetooth" and is greyed out where I cannot click on the setting for either. I have restored like 10 times and nothing. This is very upsetting. Anyone having this problem or have any suggestions for fixing it?
Thanks

Iphone 3g, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Cut and Paste the step that I used, the same used by Ratan (pag. 15 of this topic):

+1> restart your phone ! as soon as it reboots get into wifi settings and connect to ur network ! (u can find ur network everytime u restart)+
+2> now connect to it & then w8 till the wifi logo appers in the top !+
+3> quicky enter apple app store & download a free app !+
+4> after then app has been downloaded & installed ! go into ur settings>general>reset>reset your network settings! ( be sure to do all of the above steps & also be sure that while u reset ur connected to wifi & the logo appers on the top)+
+5> after ur phone resets & reboots go into ur wifi setting & u will be able to connect & stay connect to ur network without any problem !+

Yes... 😟
Unfortunately also my iPhone 3G with the method that I wrote 2 posts ago had stop to work. Now I cannot find any network (before the connection succeded but signal was low) ... However I still think that this is a firmware issue. In the specific it's a baseband issue, but the problem is that the baseband is not overwritable and any firmware restore does not repair the problem.
Help please!

OK
Here is the deal - I have been pretty upset with this since it started happening an thought it was my router (Belkin N) but all my other devices have no problem with Wifi (macbook pro, thinkpad, dell, etc ...), then thought it was hardware and that I had fried my wireless chip...

I tried everything - restore, reset network settings (many times in a row),
turn wifi off and back on after more than 10 seconds, the freezer thing (ha ha)
no luck

So it is a problem, and it needs to be fixed or **** I want a new phone from Apple with a working wifi and bluetooth ;(

Until they fix it there is a work-around if you want Wifi
1. To detect networks you need to be within 2 meters (less than 7 feet) of the
router's antenna
2. You can connect then, to be sure you connect properly click the blue arrow
and renew lease while you in still in proximity...
This will give a pretty decent signal and you should be able to maintain while
in the regular range of the router
3. If your phone goes to sleep (manual or autolock) you will loose the
connection to your router and the only way to get it back is to get back
within 2 meters or your router and repeat step 1.

Hope this helps !!!

Thanks Walt H!
WiFiFoFum worked fine for me.

I have an iPhone 3GS running OS 3.1.2 and I never had any problem with wifi. Yesterday I installed an app (which doesn't even use wifi) and immediately afterwards wifi was gone. Like many other people have reported here, the phone wouldn't detect any network - it would just go on searching forever although I was sitting next to my router. I tried a number of resets and reboots and even the freezer trick - no euphoria, not even the frustrating pleasure of being able to connect for a few minutes.

Finally, following Walt H's advice above I installed WiFiFoFum from the AppStore, and... Halleluja! I can now see all the wifi networks around me (that is mine, my neighbour's, my office's, etc...). Things work perfectly although the iPhone's settings/wifi panel still won't show any network but the one I'm connected to using WiFiFoFum (and stays shamefully empty when I'm not connected to anything). The only problem is that I need to start WiFiFoFum each time I want to connect to wifi - the phone wouldn't hook in automatically as before. Not optimal but I can live with that.

I conclude that:
- The "disappearing wifi syndrome" is a software and not a hardware issue (in my case at least).
- The 2 bucks that WFFF costs are a pretty good investment for those of us who are out of warranty.

Hope this will help preventing some iPhone users from going insane.
