NO WIFI OR BLUETOOTH after 3.0 update on my IPhone 3g

So I did the 3.0 update and now my phone does not seem to recognize my wifi and bluetooth. It is as if the hardware is missing. It is not that I cannot connect, it says "No wifi" "No bluetooth" and is greyed out where I cannot click on the setting for either. I have restored like 10 times and nothing. This is very upsetting. Anyone having this problem or have any suggestions for fixing it?
Thanks

Nope. Not working. It comes up with a passkey which when entered on the iPhone gives me a message on the computer saying "Congratulations! Your mobile phone is now setup to use your computer's Bluetooth features." It continues to say that pairing was completed successfully and that a computer serial port was created. Menwhile back on the iPhone… computer not connected… computer not connected… It would seem that the only way to get proper Bluetooth is to jailbreak the phone. No wonder so many people do it. Imagine Mercedes creating a car which is by far more sophisticated than any other prestige car… but it's speed limited to 55 Mph, the electric windows only open half way, it has a 6 stack CD player and an eight speaker sound system but you can only listen to the news, it has remote locking but it's been permanently disabled. You get my message. Go ahead, call me a whinger but this "amazing" update mainly brings in some basic features which should have been there to begin with. Wow, now my Merc has a spare wheel, too… just like my neighbour's Skoda.

I got my iPhone last Wednesday - everything worked great. Upgraded to OS 3.0 now the wi-fi and bluetooth are unavailable and do not work. Spoke to the iPhone support technician and she had me reset the phone, then do a factory restore, but no luck. She recommended I take it to the Apple store near me. Also, she said I was her first to call in with the problem. If you are running into the problem too, please call in and let them know you have the problem as well so we can get this escalated and fixed.

Same here. Greyed out wifi and bluetooth, I had an error during update then told to restore. I did to no avail.

Then I followed the instructions found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Step 1: is Reset Network Settings. That didn't work.

Then I did Step 2: Erase All Content and Settings. Still no wifi or bluetooth.

So on to step 3: Restore the iPhone through itunes. Even tough I set it to restore factory settings when it was done my OS version was still showing 3.0.

So now what?

Hey everyone.. Thanks to all for responding to my original post. First I wanted to say that I have tried just about every suggestion and thing I could think of. I am pretty computer/iphone savvy and nothing has worked. I continue to have the "greyed out" Wifi and Bluetooth as if it does not exist. I am buying a new Iphone 3G S on Friday so thankful that will solve my problem but I have given up on this issue for this phone. It seems all of you are seeing similar problems and this should not be happening. If I was not going to buy a new phone anyway I would have gone to get a new one from the apple genius store. Clearly this seems software related, but since none of the following worked..:
1. Soft Resets
2. Hard Resets
3. Turning on and off
4. Removing Sim
5. Clearing all setting
6. Restoring to factory settings.

It almost makes me believe that somehow the hardware or chip was fried or cannot be read by the new 3.0 software. SO basically, I would go to an apple store and make them give you a new phone.
If anyone does figure out a solution that really works please post it because I am so frustrated by this update.
Thanks everyone

I finally got my wifi working again today.

I'd already tried turning it off and onthe various things mentioned but with no luck

This morning I held down the home and top button and slid the screen to turn it off. it took a good 3+ minutes of black screen or black screen with the apple logo on before the phone was up and running again.

I then went straight into the wifi settings, turned them on and it found my network straight away.

My phone had been on all night and I hadn't changed anything since my previous attempt so it seeme dto be the latest restart/reset than finally got it working.

I doubt this will help other but it at least seem sto he an incompatability issue rather than a firmware/hardware issue caused by the update.

So the only thing i'd suggest (to mimic what i did) Is to leave the phone on and not tethered for 4-5 hours then try a restart (holding both buttons) and see if that does it 🙂

Hey Lads

Looks like there's a new solution out there:
Go To "Settings", "General", "Network", "VPN"

So here is everything empty! Some one from germany told me, when he configured the VPN, everything worked again. Means WiFi and Bluetooth is back on your phone again.

My problem: What do I have to fill in there? (VPN???)

thanks, best regs from switzerland
