iPhone 3.0 - Safari & Web site drop down menus

I have noticed in the iPhone V3.0 that drop-down menus on websites are now virtually un-usable. In previous versions of the software one touch would drop the menu down and a second touch would click the menu header but now the first touch clicks the header.

Some may not see this as an issue but in many popular business web-based applications drop down menus are important and being able to access the sub-menu items is important as well.

Of course any really well developed application will have an alternate way to access the same content, some do not. Has anybody else noticed this issue?

This problem is NOT FIXED in the current 3.1 beta 7C97d.

I reported this problem to Apple as urgent on May 17 and there has been no response from Apple and the bug report is still open.

- On a desktop browser, the sub-menus drop down when your mouse hovers over the menu, then you move the mouse down to the choice, and click.

- On the iphone prior to the 3.0 beta, you would tap on the top menu once, then the sub-menus would drop down, then when you tap again on your choice, it would go to that page.

- On the iphone beginning with the 3.0 beta (and including the released 3.0 and the current 3.1 beta) when you tap on the top menu, it goes to a RANDOMLY SELECTED sub-menu. (each time it's different!) Sometimes it will choose the default choice which is the same as chosing the top level menu instead of one of the sub-menus.

I've just had to make sure all the sub-menu choices are available on the page that it goes to for the default menu item.

I'm just happy to hear that Apple wants to fix this, but it is pretty surprising that they would release 3.0 and disable the use of so many important websites.
