Spell Check has stopped working

My spell check on iWork '08 has stopped working. I have checked the inspector, the language is set to English. I have check spelling as you type, it's on and even when I go to edit>spelling>check spelling, it won't show the misspelled words. I could write djfkjfnv and it will say it's right. The spell check was working fine until my document got over 38 pages, now it won't check the spelling. What's going on?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Well, I tried answer #1 and it seems to have worked.
One of the iWork preferences for Pages did the trick. The problem seemed to be in one of my templates I had created. Every time I used that template, it turned off spell checking.
I recreated that template, and it has been working.

I actually just experienced this problem about half an hour ago and after checking the text inspector, making sure that spell check was on, and trying it out in a new account (which worked) I just decided to shut down my computer, waited a few seconds and then restarted it and the spell check worked fine. If you hadn't tried that (although I'm sure you have) give it a try.
