Calls work fine in my car and voice recording fro the new app work fine with car stereo Bluetooth but I can't play my music. I don't even see an option to select the audio output type.

Hi Alan,

My phone paired fine in the past so I've been able to place calls using Bluetooth without a problem.
M issue is that as you know the update allows music streaming.
If most headsets and car kits equipped with Bluetooth are compatible, it seems that some are not. And mine could be one.
As for your problem, the good news is that your system and your phone see, recognize each other and are able to communicate. Now, the problem is that the communications ends..
The only idea would be to test with the update and see it it changes anything. Second, I'd restore my iPhone. You could also find a friend or colleague wiht an iphone and see if they're able to keep the communication going between your car kit and their phone.
Keep me posted, I'm curious to see what happens.

Well, you aren't alone.
I have a VW install that works with bluetooth on my iPhone for phone calls but it is IMPOSSIBLE to do A2DP even though VW claims it is A2DP compatible....

I'm not sure whether the fault lies in VW or Apple territory, but like you, I cannot see the icon to the right of the volume bar (when the iphone screen is set to iPod mode) that should allow us to switch to bluetooth streaming. I tried de-pairing phone and car and then re-pairing, but no change 😟

A sad, sad, day

Any ideas? Beers on me if I can find a definitive answer 🙂

Same choppy issues here, I think its the buggy June 17th iphone 3.0 update. I have a A2DP bluetooth audio car stereo by Pioneer ( DEH-P980BT ).

The calls are fine but every 5 seconds the audio clips, pretty sad because the aftermarket bluetooth dongle I bought for the phone worked perfectly( BD-906 www.22moo.com.au )but sucked because its external/bulky.

Hope apple gets this fixed, its the only thing that I wanted from the 3.0 software.

Hi,

I am running hte 3.0 s/w on my iPhone 3G as well, and have a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT audio deck.
My experience so far:
(a) The auto-connect from my iPhone 3G to my Pioneer deck is still done manually everytime the car is turned off (as auto connect still does not work) 😟
(b) I also have a audio drop-out/stall every 5-6 seconds when listening to audio coming from my iPhone 3G to my Pioneer unit over BT (A2DP).

I will continue to hope for an iPhone update that will resolve these issues, as I know that the auto-connect and A2DP worked with a BlackBerry and WinMo phone (HTC) in hte past, so I can not blame it on the deck.

I too am having this same issue with my DEH-P9800BT. Phone is fine, but A2DP stereo drops out every few seconds. Very frustrating as I have had a couple of really crappy phones connect and play music with no problems in the past.

I also cannot get it to auto-connect with the iPhone, but again have been able to get this deck to auto-connect to some crappy phones. So I don't think it's the deck, and I hope that apple can figure this out and get it fixed soon!
