iPhone 3.0 Apps are wrong icons and some are blank
I recently updated my phone to 3.0 and now some of my apps icons/buttons have turned white and some are the graphic thats supposed to be on others. I don't have any idea what would have caused this or how to fix it. I've tried removing them and then placing them back. Then I tried doing it 1 by 1. I've authorized and deauthorized. I've restarted the iPhone and my comp. I am all out of ideas on how to get this problem resolved. Please assist.
I got my first iPhone ever on Friday. Put out $400+ on the 3Gs cause of the whole ineligible to upgrade, even after I spent well over 10 hours on the phone with ATT complaining about my previous phone, which was barely able to do its sole function, make calls...
ANYWAY... I noticed the bug Sunday when I went into work. At first I couldn't open any programs at all. I would click on the app, and it would open and shut off. 2 Hard resets later, I noticed the icon bug. This bug is most certainly triggered by the hard reset for me. I'm afraid to hard reset anymore cause I do not want to have to restore the phone for the 3rd time in the first week....
It's very frustrating spending $400 on a phone that has such a blatant bug. I do have screen shots which I showed to a few Apple Employees at my local mall. None of the geniuses have seen the problem yet, I'm lucky numero uno for my store. Anyway, hopefully this is resolved with a firmware update. I may stop by Apple tomorrow and have a genius report it to the developers.
Worst part of this is, a swap will not resolve the problem, so regardless on whether you go in to the store to have an employee look at it or not, the phone will most likely need to be restored...
If you go into the iTunes preferences, you can delete the existing backup. Next time you connect your iPhone, it will do a complete backup, rather than an incremental one.
I would relax a little about it. It totally stinks, but this is not the kind of bug that Apple will let go for too long. Im sure there are other bugs in the 3.0 software that need to be addressed and it will take some time to address them all before releasing 3.1. Be patient, there is no way this will last long.
I have about four and a half pages of apps installed. Of those 72 apps, six have had the wrong icon. I managed to correct two of them after several attempts at removing and re-installing the apps in question. The others were not so lucky. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason behind which icons go with which apps. Heck, sometimes the apps have icons from apps that I've previously removed. Other times, the icon from one of the apps displaying the wrong icon is on another app. It seems that if the icon is already used by another app, then it will appear faded. If not, then it appears fully-lit. By the way, some apps seem to "remember" the same icon after several re-installs, while others get different ones each time. I've chosen one method of getting apps (directly from the App Store on the iPhone), and I'm still getting the wrong icons for several apps after a hard reset.
After 3 os upgrade in my iphone i switch on the time "emergency call" only appear on the screen. after that no reaction. incoming only received. if i connect to the itune system displayed "THE SIM CARD INSERTED IN THIS IPHONE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SUPPORTED". but befor 3 os upgrade properly working the same sim card. what can i do
I too am experiencing this problem. I've just upgraded from a 1st-gen iPhone to the new iPhone 3G S. Two of my apps have the wrong icon and two others have blank (gray) icons. The apps seem to work properly in all other respects. I will attempt some of the proposed solutions after work and I'll let you guys know if any of these methods work for me. It would be great if someone from apple can post an official solution soon.

i have the same issue... couple of my apps won't show up at my iPhone
i alreadey unistall then install again via iTunes from my PC but zero result
then i try install via iTunes from my iPhone, the icon was show up (at download process) but after 'installing' process the icon was missing again....( i try it on 3 apps missing icon)
i try hardreset and softreset still zero result...
oh deaarr...what happen with my lovely iPhone...
anyone can help me...
This is pathetic. Come on Apple. You guys charge way too much to ruin your reputation with such a glaring flaw. I had this problem two days ago and spent a good two hours fixing it. Now I have it AGAIN! Two hours of my time is worth more than the price of my new 3GS. Hey Apple, how about you start paying me for the time I have to devote to correcting your mistakes? I pay a premium to Apple because historically the product works. I switched from PC to MAC because historically the product has always worked. You folks at Apple seem to be falling into the same traps that Microsoft fell into. Correct this issue and stop releasing operating systems full of bugs.
