Well, my iphone is a factory unlocked one. But I somehow doubt the baseband would be the culprit as it only comes into play for cell phone connectivity.
I would be very interesting to know if you reverted to 2.2.1 and used a backup to restore or set up as a new iphone like I did.
Mine is s factory unlocked too from Italy. And yes, I did set it up as a new phone. No avail. I guess the baseband is what a BIOS is for a normal PC. And as such it could affect power saving features of all integrated communications chips.
In fact, it would be interesting to know if someone having this problem tried to revert back, then upgrade again to 3.0 using DFU mode without using any backup to restore. Again I doubt this would change anything as some reported 3GS with the same problem.
Did that too. Does not help either. The tricky thing is that you cannot pinpoint when WiFi is woking or not. That is why many people think that - whatever they try - is a remedy. Most of them end up finding out that WiFi starts behaving oddly again after a short period of time.
In my case it does not find my WiFi at home anymore - regardless if I hold my phone right next to the router's antenna or not. Strangely enough it shows every other WiFi in Town when I walk around. And yes, my WiFi is set up correctly my laptop connects just fine and I also have a good signal strength. Also tried all kinds of WiFi settings and fixed or dynamic IPs. Nothing helps.
