Strange WiFi problem on iPhone 3G after 3.0 update

Just thought I'd see if anyone else is having the same strange problem with the WiFi on their iPhone after the 3.0 update.

Essentially, WiFi works fine after the phone has been freshly booted (i.e. right after a restart) - however, once it has put itself into standby mode it will no longer download data over a WiFi connection after the phone is turned on again. It remains able to find the WiFi network, but simply refuses to download data over it.

Have tried restarting my phone and changing the WiFi security from WPA to WEP, but to no avail...

Seconded. I really am having trouble with this.

I'm using a 3G iPhone, and upgraded to 3.0 yesterday. Since then I've been unable to join any wifi network at all. I've tried.

-Resetting my network settings
-reinstalling 3.0
-full reset
-full restore
-turning on then off any number of iPhone settings

Still every single time I click on a network, it whirls a bit, then tells me "unable to join the network "---" " Signal strength is also MUCH lower, the router right beside me now is only at 1 bar despite being less than 5 feet away.

I have messed with my router countless times, changing security protocols, passwords, block devices, everything. Nothing changes. My roommates' iMac is connected to my network fine, and I can't join any other networks that are nearby that I used to be able to piggyback on.

So this is definitely an Apple problem. If anyone knows what to do with it, (as long as you don't tell me to reset the ****** phone again), please let me know. This is reaaaally frustrating.

I've heard of several iPhone users who have experienced this behavior when using a guest network. It's obvious if you're on a guest network if you're redirected to a webpage to login after selecting the WiFi access point from the list. After 15 min or so of use (not inactivity), the iPhone will continue to report a signal (bars at upper left), but the IP Address is dropped. Probably not the issue for all of you, but this seems to be a known iPhone issue that hasn't been patched yet.

Same here!

But it also effects receiving and sending texts. The progress bar for sending texts goes right up until the very end and stops and then eventually has the red exclamation mark saying the text was not sent.

Also, can't receive voicemails.

Rebooting solves it, until it goes on stand by for a while...

Help, Apple
Fix this, please!

Having the same problems. Wifi definitely gets cut off as it goes to sleep, but since this morning is losing connection even as its being used. Like another user here, i thought it was a router issue and fiddled with it till it would be fiddled no more. but its not a router issue, its apple.

i noticed in the wifi advanced settings, it gets hold of a public ip, router ip, and dns entries that it just does not wanna let go (both under dhcp and bootp setting). router is set to dhcp of course. i don't remember such stickiness in the phone before.

this constant connectivity drop off is becoming a huge annoyance and inconvenience. if only i could go back to 2.2. i wish apple would come up with a fix, but not holding my breath.

I have disabled push email and it made no difference. Also, I have made full restore to factory state with iTunes - still no wireless, so I guess it's a hardware problem - again.

As that means 4 more weeks for me to get a replacement device (very slow Vodafone service), is there any suggestions what phone to buy while I wait for my third iPhone? It has to be super-simple, non-expensive and able to sync with my Mac.
