OK, here's what I ran into. As I previously posted on
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2043123&start=0&tstart=0 , I probably tried every single option that was offered on the forum and elsewhere with no result.
Now here's what I ran into today:
After being tired of all the things I tried without an outcome I decided to do something else.
I opened the iPhone!! Now, Im not telling all you people to go ahead and open your phone but I want to resume on what I did.
Removing the screen I noticed connector 1 (connectors are clearly marked) had came loose. Off-course this might have nothing to do with all these issues but that's the way it was. After attaching it back in place I rebooted with the phone open.
This is were an eventual solution might come in play: I rebooted (even twice) without the SIM card in the phone. After rebooting, no wifi...
I put the phone back together, inserted the SIM card and rebooted again. Guess what? Wifi signal all over the place...
I took a ride in my car scanning the neighborhood and received countless networks, WiFi has been working flawlessly since.
Again, I'm not telling you to take apart your phone, PLEASE DON'T if you don't feel confident to do this, contact a professional if you really want this to happen. The problem solving might have, and probably hasn't, nothing to with me doing so. The connector in my phone might have been a one-off.
It's the booting without SIM that I think did the trick. Trying this will not hurt anyone, nor the phone, I guess.
Just wanted to share this with all you people because these WiFi complaints are like everywhere.
Another problem I had was that the device didn't want to charge anymore nor was it recognized by the computer (bad contact???). This also was resolved after these reboots.
In short, things started working again as they should.
I hope trying this might resolve some issues for some, preferably all, of you.
