Windows Vista claims for "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" driver

When I connect my iPhone via bluetooth to my computer for "tethering", Windows Vista claims for "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" driver and i can´t connect.

Where is the driver? Anyone knows it?

Thanks!

I should add: I pressed the Refresh button, and then before it finished refreshing (ie. while the Remove button was still greyed out', I pressed the Connect button. Waiting for it to completely refresh before pressing Connect would just bring up the same error message.

Well, sonuvagun, that was it. I couldn't get it to connect at all. On my iPhone it kept telling me it wasn't connected. If I clicked refresh, then kept clicking connect repeatedly, it worked. I am in shock that something this simple (but obscure) resolved this.

Now let's see what happens when we reboot. 🙂

After about 2 months of forum crawling and trying various things...

I uninstalled my bluetooth driver, tried to reinstall it to no avail - the driver software says it cannot recognise a compatible bluetooth chipset - so i thought my bluetooth had broken! and now i have no bluetooth driver at all! Using the iPhone i kept trying to connect to my dell laptop running vista, it successfully pairs with windows, but it would only be able to connect for a few seconds then disconnect.

SOLUTION:

right click the bluetooth icon in the taskbar, click "Join Personal Area Network"
under Access Points, the iPhone should be visible. Click Connect and voila! thats all it took, after months of searching. Note: Wireless iAP should be checked in the settings under bluetooth devices.

Hi, I have almost no hear left, because I still have the same problem. Tried everything mentioned above with no success. BT drivers are updated to the latest release and the following BT services of my iPhone are OK and have a driver :
- Audio Source
- Device Synchronisation
- Remotely Controllable Device

The one that doesn't work is the notorious "Wireless AP". Turning it OFF and ON results in Windows Vista x64 Business asking AGAIN : "Windows needs to install driver software for you Bluetooth Peripheral Device".

More info on the problem with the driver from Windows is below :

Since this is forum that actually has the best no-nonsense approach in this subject and already presented a few possible solution, I hope someone, eventually will post a complete solution that will also solve the problem for me, tehadam and many others ... 😟

Until then ... I'll use the USB cable ...

Have a nice day ...

I have similar problem. After Windows and/or BootCamp update, Vista lost driver for BCM2046M. BroadCom driver ...SetupBtwDownload... - can't installed on my system, also

Workaround problem:

Go Start/Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Device Manager
For device BCM 2046A, choice Update driver/Browse my computer for driver software/Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer/Apple Inc./Apple Built-in Bluetooth

Ignore message "...Windows cannot verify that it is compatible..."

_*Wait Apple certified this drivers for Vista SP2, in future*_

Zesty at 'eeeuser.com' forum advised:

"works for me, but i didn't download anything from broadcom -- windows 7 built-in bluetooth works great for internet tethering. after pairing the device, the phone did have a yellow-triangle-exclamation icon in 'devices and printers'; fixed that by right-clicking my phone in devices, going to properties > services and unchecking the 'wireless iAP' option. then you can right-click on the phone icon and select 'connect using > access point', works great if phone on 3g."

This worked for me too with Windows 7 on Lenovo x301, with an iPhone 3GS. I had updated from XP to Vista to Windows 7. Needed to update my drivers from Lenovo, just to get Bluetooth working again. This solution finally allowed my tethering to go through.

enjoy.

I have a vaio with vista, followed njays instructions. Only difference is that you need to double click rather than right click at the end and your PAN window comes up and just press connect.

Before you do any of this you have to click - add another bluetooth device on your vaio bluetooth icon adn choose iphone. passkey will automatically appear on your laptop screen and iphone.
