acknowledge text message without having to unlock phone

I think it would be nice to maybe slide to acknowledge, rather than slide and unlock, goto sms, and then turn off display again. Some way to acknowledge a SMS without going into the phone, its a pain in the butt especially if your busy, and also if you dont wanna turn off the sms reminder alert.

You can already do this in one of two ways:
1) Go to settings > messages and turn 'repeat alert' to off.
2) just hit the sleep button before the screen goes off, and the phone will acknowlege it as read. If the screen goes off, touching the home/sleep buttins will automatically acknowlege it aswell.
