Identity Certificate not installing properly on OS 3.0

Having issues installing p12 identity certificate on OS 3.0. Same exact identity certificate installs fine on OS 2.2. I am also able to import the certificate using Firefox and Internet Explorer.

When installing the certificate on OS 3.0, the install seems to go through. But when I open the identity certificate under General>Profiles and look in More Details, the certificate is blank. Using the iPhone Configuration Utility to monitor the device console, I noticed the following error "Error (-25300) while trying to retrieve an identity certificate's details".

Indeed 3.1 seems to be no different from 3.0

In my case I can sync OK when I connect to the corporate WiFi, that worked OK before. What's not working, just the message "The connection to the server failed" all the time, it sync via other networks - so 3G or through another WiFi. This uses a different server from the internal WiFi.

This is seriously annoying, I hate to imagine the number of corporate users who will bin their iPhones and go to RIM as a result.

I just bought the 3GS and of course it had 3.0 on it. We use a 3rd Party company who requires SSL Certificate based authentication, so I tried to install the cert and it installed just fine or so it appeared... When I hit their site it prompts me for a username/password, which their customers do not have. This is really annoying becuase i get emails from this company frequently and need to access their website to know what the email is in regards to... My Exchange Active Sync works fine... but we don't do client certificate authentication there so... What are the odds of Apple getting this fixed any time soon????

I can confirm that this issue is still occuring in 3.1. ***!!! Are Apples developers total morons or something?! This should be so simple for them to fix. This is going to screw me over again tomorrow when I'm visiting a customer. It's not as if I can use tehering from my laptop either as the iPhone is the only phone out there that charges you to use that basic service!

I'm starting to get really p'd off with this now. It might soon be time to ditch the iPhone and move to an Android handset like the HTC hero.

I haven't tried 3.1.2 yet, but I don't hold out any hope. It certainly isn't listed as a bug fix in the release notes.

Has anybody tried some of the alternate browsers from the app store yet? Do any of them handle client certificates properly?

I've tied v. 3.1.3. The problem with certificates seems to be solved. You can install them. You can also access your server via SSL (https://) using a browser. Unfortunately, Activesync doesn't work. The server is not reachable. I'm talking about a configuration with a reverse proxy and a front-end Exchange server. Maybe the issue has something to do with MS Exchange 2003 which must be upgraded to a new version like MSX 2007 or MSX 2010. It's clear that it's not a job for an average user. So, after 3 days of pointless attempts to make it work, I've just downgraded my iPhone to v. 2.2.1. Nice try and bad luck.
