This is a minor point, but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could change the printer icon that comes with the C500 driver from Lexmark? It's beyond hideous and the icon for the C510 in the Apple driver looks just like the C500. Any way I could grab that icon and use it for my C500 driver? Thanks.

Since the printer is represented as an application you can easily change its icon to whatever you like. Simply find the icon you want to use. Then copy the icon via the Get Info dialogue to your printer.
OK I was able to change the application icon but that didn't help much. The icon that shows up in the dock, in the driver window, and in the printers & fax pane of System preferences are still the same ugly icon.
I remember in the old Mac OS you could use ResEdit to change these things on a low level. Is there some kind of equivalent for that in Mac OS X?
Do as macwiz said and you should get to the correct printer. Also notice that restarting the Dock does not automatically show the new icon. I just gave mine another random icon and tried a *killall Dock*, but I still needed to drag it out and back in to get the other icon to show. I definitely works when done right!
I did change the icon, via the application in the Finder. That didn't change the icon that shows up in the Dock or in the application window when printing.
