3G S , bluetooth volume, and Jawbone

Has anyone else noticed a significant difference in the volume of a Jawbone or any other headset/earset since upgrading to 3G S?

Just upgraded from 16GB 3G to 32GB 3G S today and after turning volume all the way up on my Jawbone from iPhone and earset, I am noticing volumes much less than on the older device. At times it is a struggle to hear the voice at all...

Have an iPhone 3GS and two Jawbone Primes. Both are very scrachy and hissy when I make any calls. The volume is low, and there are sometime beeps which come in during the calls. When I answer the phone, the calls routes to the phone and not the headset unless I press the Jawbone button on the screen.

There appears to be something wrong with the iPhone 3.0 software on the iPhone and the Jawbone.

Well seems that people have problems pairing but I suppose that has to do with the putting the JB into pairing mode.
The real issue for me on the 3G with OS 3.0 and 3GS is that the volume is very low and very difficult to hear the people. My opinion is that there is no problem with hardware it's just that someone at apple made a booboo in adjusting the sound.

Apple please do something about it and do not make us wait until 3.1

*After upgrading to OS 3.00 Bluetooth Voice Audio Quality has deteriorated!*

I am expereinceing very poor audio quality with the Plantronics 925 in conjunction with a Apple iPhone 3G (8GB) which has been upgraded with 3.0 OS. When I say poor audio quality I mean:

- voice when audible is very chirpy/squeaky and lacks full range/ depth

- the voice is very choppy, seems like VOX circuit or noise cancellation algorithim is reeking havoc with streaming being toggled on/off, loosing the first few sylabels of each sentence spoken

- with any kind of wind noise (car vents) the voice in completly unintelligeble

What is important to note is that I was using the very same Plantronics 925 unit with a Tmobile G1 earlier this month, there were no problems and about 8 months ago I was using it with a Treo 650 with no problems. So I don't think its a HW defect. No one ever complained that they could not hear me on those phones with this headset.

It's more likely some sort of interaction issue with the 925 firmware and the Apple iPhone OS 3.0. Anyone else expereince the same issue?

BASICALLY my take is that Apple has messed up the BT software on OS 3.0 somehow and needs to FIX it.

I have an iPhone 3G 16gb with 3.0....I recently purchased a Jawbone Prime to replace my Jawbone 2. However, after being sent a replacement because jawbone felt my first unit was defective. I am still experiencing issues with using the jawbone prime. Everything seems fine except when answering a phone call. If i select answer on the iPhone itself it seems to route the voice directly to the phone and not through the headset. If you push the answer button on the headset it will then route the voice to the jawbone prime. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It seems a little weird.

I upgraded my iPhone to 3.0 a few weeks ago and have also had problems with my bluetooth headset. It's a Plantronics 925 and the microphone volume has become really low, everyone has extreme difficulty hearing me so I basically can't use it anymore. It's very frustrating, I've tried resetting, re-pairing, aircraft mode, and playing around with everything I can think of, but no luck.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can anyone help me please?

If not . . . Apple please fix this!!

Thanks Thanar, I've known about the noise cancellation difficulty for a while, it's a bit frustrating but I can live with it. This is quite different though, my voice is only just able to be heard by people, regardless of the background noise, even if we're both in very quiet environments.

I'd actually be really curious to hear from shorton3 who said that both he and his wife had this problem, like me, immediately after upgrading to 3.0. Definitely something's amiss with this new OS version.

Sorry to see that thread get hijacked the way it was!

Yes, I noticed the problem you originally posted.

My Apple Blue Tooth headset does not produce the same volume on the 3Gs as on the Original. Both have version 3.0 software! I tried pairing and using with the old phone and turning the volume all the way DOWN, then pairing and using with the new 3GS and turning the volume all the way back up, and no go. The max volume when paired to the new phone is USELESS.

I suspect Apply limited the Volume for Liability issues? Their own website has a warning on the page that describes the Blue Tooth Headset about hearing loss! D'ooh. At this point if you can read, then I think you know that load music can damage your hearing.

Anyway, I just found out from another post that it is not just the Apple Headset but other headsets as well.

My opinion is that if the volume on a phone, either regular phone up to your ear, 'hands free speaker phone', or headset cannot be made to "too high" then it's USELESS. Because in a noisy environment you need TOO HIGH to hear the phone call!

In fact with the WIRED headset the 3Gs is not as load as the original iphone for a phone call.

I hope Apple fixes this bug soon.

I have the same problem.
My Jawbone worked fine for the last year with my original iPhone.
When I upgraded to 3GS the volume dropped in half with no adjustment.
Also has occasional problem where sound switches to the iphone after the sound works for the Jawbone for a few seconds. Even manually switching between the two doesn't stop it from switching on its own.

I have a 3GS and a Jawbone Prime. The way they work together, it is misleading to believe that the volume settings between the two devices are synchronized, despite how it appears to work.

Just set the volume on your Jawbone to maximum first. I think it's just a one button toggle through volume modes. Use the rocker on the iPhone to fine-tune afterward.
