iPhone 3G S has yellowish tint

I just got my iPhone 3G S today and noticed that it has a distinctly yellowish tint to the screen. Doesn't matter what app I am using, and I've tried adjusting the brightness with no success.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Many people are very pleased with their purchases. I don't think waiting is going to make a huge difference. But to sort these things out usually take a few months depending on whether it is a production problem, supplier problem, etc...

Hopefully it will be isolated and that stock will be removed from distribution. But there is really no way to tell yet.

I would go for it. There are a million phones out there and most people are happy with theirs
there are always issues, but the geniuses are great when they do arise.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with "nonsense generalization" but I talked to an Apple employee at an Apple store in Los Angeles. When I asked him he put me on hold to ask some other employees. He said no one told him of any problems.

Regardless, I'm gonna wait a few weeks and see what happens just as a matter of principle, even if there were no issues. I'm not really one to be a first adopter, especially if previous roll-outs were riddled with bugs.

Looks like they got this one straight...for the most part.

I concur with the majority of posters who think the phone has a horrible yellow screen. My 3GS is a week 20 build. Hopefully this gets sorted out at the manufacturing level, but I won't hold my breath on that one. I wish Apple was a little more forth coming on flaws in the manufacturing process.

This phone reminds me of the new 13" MacBook Pro's and their upgraded display. They quantified the improvement by 60%, but didn't go into to many specifics. Was it software or hardware? Apple seems tight lipped on how they go about improving things, such as the speed bumps in the 3GS. It usually takes some cracking the thing open to find out what's inside.

This is the price we pay for early adoptions. When are we going to learn!

Any opinions?

OK, Like I said in my early posts that I was going to the Apple store to talk to a Genius about my Yellow tint...

I got to the Apple Store and waited about 10 min to be seen. I told him what I was seeing with the yellowness and he immediately started telling me that there was a news letter that was sent to all Apple stores about this very issue. I then asked him to just take a look. He looked it over and started again to state the news letter that was sent. I tried to inform him that the yellow was far to noticeable. He then said let’s see about the Vibration and asked me to follow him to some of the Demo units and then started to test the screen and vibration. I did feel it and it felt the same... Right after that I went to the setting area turned up the brightness and then Showed the Genius the differences. His eyes lit up and said “WoW, yeah there is a Yellow tint to it. Ok lets replace it.”

We went back to the bar and he pulled out another 32 gig iphone, swapped the Sim and activated it. Just like that. I didn’t have to show any proof of who I was, where I bought it, or even that I was an ATT customer. All I did was sign a paper. And I got a new (not refurb) Iphone. As soon as I got the new phone I compared phones side by side…

I’m pleased to say that The “yellow tint” was nowhere near noticeable. A little warmer than my Edge iPhone but nowhere near like it was. My overall experience with the Apple store was Wonderful. The Genius was nice and Very knowledgeable. My experience was so good that I might actually start buying apple products other than Just Iphone, iPod stuff.

I have the same issue with my black 32GB 3GS. The Apple Store Genius was very nice and agreed to replace it one time for me. The replacement iPhone has the exact same yellow tinted screen. I compared it with the store display phones and those have a cooler blueish tint. Interesting to note that my 2G iPod touch has the same yellow tint as the iPhone. Apple will replace your phone one time for you, but chances are you are probably going to get someone else's newly returned yellow tinted phone. I am going to investigate returning the phone out right and buying a new one to see if i have better luck.
