iPhone 3G S has yellowish tint

I just got my iPhone 3G S today and noticed that it has a distinctly yellowish tint to the screen. Doesn't matter what app I am using, and I've tried adjusting the brightness with no success.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

15" Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), iPhone 3G S

I.....I....I can't stand this anymore. I don't know what's worse!!! This thread or the K-A-R-S Cars For Kids radio commercial tune!

All of this "week 32, white 32gb, black 16gb, week 7" stuff is pointless!!!!! White iPhones don't "overheat"!!!! The white cases DO NOT discolor! It was found to be a reaction with certain lined cases picking up the dye in the lining! It wipes off!

I'm losing my mind! Help me!!!!!

It doesn't matter what week, day, hour or factory that your phone was made in! It's an iPhone lottery! I've looked at near countless iPhones and iPods and every screen is different!

I'm telling my mother and she's gonna come at you with a big-*** wooden spoon and rap your knuckles!!

All in fun guys.

If none of the screens are the same then why are all of the 3gs screens the same at every AT&T store?
I have been checking this post to find some useful information. Not to hear people complain about people who have a problem with a yellow screen. If you like your screen then what is the point in posting here. Why don’t you start a post that says come here to complain about people who don’t want a yellow screen. Then you can complain about this post all you want. I don’t go into post that I don’t care about and waste time writing how stupid everyone is for wanting there expensive phone to look a certain way. If I did I would feel like a loser and wonder why my life *****.
Anyway Im going to AT&T 08/21 to return my 3gs and get a new one. The restocking fee is cheaper than the gas to drive 5 hours to go to an apple store. If anybody has gotten a good screen please let me know where and what the first 5 of the serial numbers are. Im getting a non yellow screen or Im going back to the 3g.
And my screen is not warm with great colors and blah blah. Its yellow with ugly colors and everybody that looks at my 3gs and there 3g agrees.

Try reading my post again without assuming I'm taking the p*ss. My screen as I have determined, has a magenta cast, my wife's a slight yellow green cast. My mates cyan/blue. and so on. What week or what day or what batch it was made in is irrelevant, the simple truth is the tolerances on the LCD manufacture are way too loose, but I'm guessing that keeps cost down 🙂

All I was saying, is this isn't as simple an issue as "my screen is yellow", I've seen upwards on 40 different iPhone 3GS's now and they all feel remarkably different, when compared to mine. My point is that most folks don't notice or don't care. I agree there are some examples that are particularly bad, but I don't think this is something that Apple need to issue a recall about, as some one suggested. If you feel strongly about it then book some time with a Genius at the Apple store and exchange it... end of story. <Edited by Host>

I don’t know what that means. Is that like Australian slang or something. I didn’t say you were taking anyone’s p*ss. If you stole some p*ss that’s your bizness

“ My screen as I have determined, has a magenta cast, my wife's a slight yellow green cast. My mates cyan/blue.”
You should post a picture cause if never seen a purple Iphone. That would interesting.
And were are not talking about a cast. The screen is yellow.

“All I was saying, is this isn't as simple an issue as "my screen is yellow",”
That’s the topic of this whole thread so I think it is issue. When I pulled up safari the white background was yellow.

“If you feel strongly about it then book some time with a Genius at the Apple store and exchange it... end of story.”
I went to AT&T and exchanged it. It’s in my post that you copied. That was the whole point.

This whole thing is about people who have a problem with there yellow screen. Posting stuff saying that all the screens are different so don’t worry about it is just stupid. Im done posting in here because I got a good screen now. I will check back because I hope other people return there yellow screens and get a good one. I will be happy for them. I’m sure you will continue to complain about people who are unhappy with there screen. But as I said, That’s the topic.

I cannot believe that this thread is still going... and going... and going... and going... and going... and going... and going... and going.

I belong to many different forums on many different subjects for many different reasons, and this is absolutely by far the most ridiculous, drawn out, nit picky, stupid, pointless, worthless thread in the history of the entire internet.

Words cannot even begin to describe how stupid this has become.

WOW!

bcalvanese , You just did not have one of the crummy screens that these people are talking about. I returned mine about 2 weeks after I got it. I'm going to wait until Apple (if ever) turns out a consistent 3GS product. I'm sure some here have a screen that is not that bad and this thread if magnifying the concern. People just think that if they got one that is OK to them that these complaints are not valid.

@ bcalvanese

You are pathetic. Go crawl under a rock somewhere and stay there you Troll.

I am one of the many people with a bad screen. It's **** yellow, my blacks are gray, and text even looks blurred when browsing the device. The screen looks like it belongs on a $20 prepaid "throw away phone".

I check this thread everyday with hopes that this issue has been addressed and there is a solution to our problem. If people don't have anything useful to contribute then just don't come in this thread.

I have been tracking this thread since it started and I agree that the 3GS has a warmer screen than the 3G because mine has a warmer screen too. I will also admit that there are a few defects here and there.

I even posted a thread to try and help people because I discovered that if you turn off auto brightness on the 3GS and 3G that both screens would look exactly the same, but everyone chose to just ignore my findings and just kept complaining about their screens.

One person posted that Apple would not return their phone which is very hard to believe because they have good customer service. When I questioned the person, they then posted that it was the 4th or 5th phone that they where trying to return. They posted pictures which where obviously altered, and when I questioned that, started getting very rude to my posts.

I tried to help in this situation, but most people simply don't want help. They just want something to nit pick at, and when this thread got to about 20+ pages, I realized that it was 90% worthless and stopped reading it.

I came here recently because my GPS was acting a little funny and happened to see this thread was still going and could simply not believe my eyes.

You say you check this thread every day in hopes that someone will come up with a solution. If your screen is as bad as you say it is, why don't you simply get it replaced instead of checking this thread day after day waiting for some one else to solve your problem for you.

Also, you should find out what a troll is before you start calling other people one...:)

Your idea, which may work on your non-defective 3GS, does NOT work on defective 3GS screens. Turning a 3GS to MAX brightness with Auto-Brightness OFF negates your idea, and that is the method for comparing a potentially defective 3GS with a per-spec Apple Store 3GS display phone. With both screens set exactly the same, CLEARLY there are OFTEN drastic differences, such as washed out colors (poor color saturation), low contrast (blacks looking grey), dim screens, varying degrees of polarization, and oh yeah, excessively YELLOW (and sometimes even dirt brown) tints, not to mention yellowing on the bottom 1/3 of the screen on some models.

Sticking your head in the sand and ignoring truthful, factual testimonials and complaints from victims because you were lucky to get a non-defective 3GS and ASSuming everyone else is exaggerating, lying, altering screen shots, etc. clearly paints you to be the typical stubborn, ignorant, arrogant Apple Fanboy that everyone hates. So why be surprised that everyone ignores your "advice" when it does not apply and does not work and you only care to defend a company that has CLEARLY let its quality drop. Oh wait, we're all exaggerating, lying and making this up you think.

Seriously, get a life, and stop harassing and tormenting victims that are already disheartened and feeling betrayed by Apple for getting $29 screen quality in a $699 smartphone, and then being told by expert "Genius" techs that there is no problem.

I just asked you to back up your contention that Apple had made an official announcement on this issue, that's all. I guess we have our answer.

If you don't have a problem with your display, my suggestion is to stop torturing yourself by the length of this thread and just frequent another where they apparently all hold hands and sing songs.

(By the way, by the looks of things, the only "we" here are those who have a problem with their screen...and then there's you. In other words, STFU.)
