Phone rings twice and screen goes black!

We got 3 phones on Friday when they came out. 2 of them are going black after the phones ring 2 or 3 times, but 1 of them does not. I can't see who is calling unless I have it in my hand the second the phone starts to ring. I took it by the Apple store on Saturday, but was told that if I restored it from a back up I needed to re-load the 3.0 update. I tried it but it says I am running the most current version, so how am I supposed to re-load the 3.0 update? Don't think that is the solution anyway because the other phone that is doing this has not been restored from a backup. It is doing it right out of the box.

I have this problem too. It rings and by the time I pick it up the screen fades out to black, but it is still ringing.

On the bright side the new speaker is so loud that I can hear it ringing. My original iPhone I never knew when it was ringing if I was across the room.

Here is what I think happened to my phone. I had the 3G and did a back up Wednesday night prior to the 3.0 update. Never did another back up AFTER the 3.0 update. Got the new 3GS. Hooked up to computer and restored it with the back up I did PRIOR to the 3.0 update. I don't know if anyone else did this, but I just now got through Restoring my new I phone 3GS to the factory settings, made a test call from another phone, and it did not go black after ringing 2-3 times, so this fixed my problem. THEN, I put the SIM card in my OLD 3G, did a back up (with the 3.0 update), put the SIM card back in my new 3GS and restored the back up from the 3G. Now my phone is working like it should. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem. However, my old 2G phone had 3.0 installed with no trouble and was backed up prior to setting up my new 3GS. Very odd.
