Currently Being ModeratedApr 13, 2010 7:23 PM (in response to iflup)Hi,
bought my 3GS iPhone one week ago and after a couple of days I have this same situation. Is it normal for problems to be unresolved for such a long time?iPhone 3GS, iPhone OS 3.1.2

Does anyone know if you were to take out the old camera and install a new replacement camera, would that fix that shutter problem? Would the shutter re-open again???
or would the problem still exist??
Would apprciate a response or answer to this. Thank you in advance!Windows Vista

Currently Being ModeratedMay 11, 2010 3:39 PM (in response to Kilaeua)I also have a similar problem. My 3gs seams to freeze and lock up the phone after using the video and keeping it switched to the video setting awaiting the next shot. The phone goes into sleep mode and when it awakes it awakes frozen and won't reset. The only thing that unfreezes it is an incoming call. Oh yeah, the phone starts to get very hot to the touch.3gs, iPhone OS 3.1.3
Currently Being ModeratedJun 4, 2010 5:32 PM (in response to Kilaeua)yesterday my phone just shut off on its own and i had to hold the home key and power button to restart. today, the camera doesn't work. even the camera apps aren't working. i did a backup and then restore. still not working. i called apple earlier today and was told if the backup/restore doesn't work, to return it to apple under the warranty; that it's a hardware problem.
glad this happened while under warranty. i'd be ****** otherwise.
does anyone else have a problem with charging? i'll plug in the phone to sync and afterward i get a black screen with a yellow warning triangle that reads "this accessory is not made to work with the iphone".. or something like that. if i unplug and re-plug it'll charge. just curious if anyone else gets that message.
Currently Being ModeratedJun 11, 2010 12:05 AM (in response to Kilaeua)I am experiencing a similar problem with my 3gs camera. I haven't even owned for 3 days and have had this problem since day one . I contacted apple and they wanted to charge me 29.99 to send me a new one! HELLO YOU SENT ME A PHONE THAT DOES NOT WORK!! Why in my right mind would I either give you 29.99 for shipping me a new phone. I can't help that it doesn't work!!! or just randomly send you my iphone and be stuck with no phone. Luckily I spoke to a very helpful sales rep to help me the next day and they agreed to send me a new one. THANKS .custom

My phone has been working just fine for the last 11 months. 3 days ago I started having the camera shutter issue. No big files (I've deleted all photos); did not get wet, dropped etc; no other symptoms.
I've tried all suggestions to no avail. After reboot it works for a while and then the problem appears again (plus, that's not a solution).
I'm worried as my warranty is nearly up, there is no Apple store in Greece and the expertise of the network operators is questionable to say the least. I will see what they say tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix this.iPhone 3GS, iOS 4, MB Air

Currently Being ModeratedAug 27, 2010 9:34 AM (in response to Kilaeua)Hi, add me to the list too.
I've had my 3Gs since December of 2009 and I have not had any problems until earlier this week. I was trying to take a pic and when I clicked on the camera app the closed shutter appeared and would not go away until I did a reset. Once it restarted the camera seemed to work OK & I was able to take some pics & videos over the past few days. Then last night it did it again.
It looks like people have been having this problem for some time now & it doesn't appear as if Apple is really doing anything about it. Maybe too many of their resources are tied up in the iPhone 4 and it's antenna issues that have been getting so much press lately?
Apple, please help!!!iPhone, iOS 4
Currently Being ModeratedSep 3, 2010 1:56 PM (in response to Kilaeua)If you use the power button and the home button at the same time, it will take a picture. Just do NOT touch the camera's button. Pull up the camera, aim at what you want a pic of, and push both the power and home buttons. It will take a pic just fine. Again, do not touch the camera's button at all or it will go gray and you will take pictures of the gray screen.Windows Vista
Currently Being ModeratedSep 25, 2010 8:41 AM (in response to Kilaeua)I'm having a similar issue with the shutter not opening ever for the camera on the iPhone 3G. It used to work, but now it doesn't open and so I cannot take pictures. Everything else seems to work fine. I didn't damage or drop the phone in liquid or anything, so I'm not getting what the problem is here. I checked the camera connection to the mobo and it's a-okay. I'm a little miffed that everybody is having these problems and Apple doesn't do anything ever on their forums to offer help/solutions. If it weren't for the users, this forum would be worthless!Modified Dell XPS 410, Windows Vista
