Let us know if your 3GS purchase, activation, and function are problem free
This forum is, appropriately, a repository of questions and comments from people who are having problems. It sometimes feels like everyone had (or has) one problem or another. Perhaps it would be of value for us to hear from those who have their new 3GS phone up and running problem free. Of course I understand that this forum attracts those with problems, but I also believe that many others without new phone problems are hear to read what is happening with this new product introduction.
Please leave a comment here if your purchase experience, activation, synching and use of your new 3GS has been free of major problems.
Phone would never activate. Then just decided to use my old SIM out of my 3G and it worked. Also having distorted audio when tone are played (like recieved e-mail tone.)
OK, after calling a local AT&T store, the clerk was extremely understanding; my on line issue is a function of AT&T's electronic database of zips they serve, which is not necessarily current.
My famly has several 3GS phones. Not one problem. All activated on the 19th with the help of a very helpful phone service rep. Just changed my imei and sim card number on my account and good to go. Phone is great.
Got my phone on the 19th. Set everything up. Backed it up from first gen iPhone and bought some apps and it's working great. It's been trying to activate for three days now. I'm really annoyed at that. I even called AT&T to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. My old phone is off and the 3GS is plugged into my computer with iTunes open. Ah! I'm SO ****** off over this.
Bought mine at the Apple Store, 10 min. wait in line, easy activation, no problems at all. After having the 1st Gen, I'm really enjoying the speed and new features.
I didn't preorder, but I stopped at an AT&T store Friday morning. Kind of long line and I was told that the 16GB were gone, there were a handful of 32GBs, but that I could order the 16GB. So I waited in line trying to decide if I should try to get a 32, or just order the 16. When I got to the cashier, she told me that she happened to have ONE 16gb which a customer who had preordered ended up not able to get (something about having to return his equipment somewhere else). So I got the 16gb, it took a few minutes to activate, and I've been playing with it tons since. No problems here. 🙂
Its my first time getting an iPhone so I'm really glad that its gone so smoothly thus far.
June 19, 2009. Brown delivered it (16G, black) early. Synce to iTunes, activated with an email from AT&T within a minute or two. Did a synce from a backed up iPod Touch 2nd gen. 2.2.1, no issues. Renamed the device in iTunes from Pod to Phone. Been putting it through the paces since Friday. No yellow screen, no noticible bugs.
it couldnt of been any smoother. UPS dropped it off at work around 10am. Got home @ 6pm. Backed up my original iPhone, hooked up my 3GS and seriously took less than 5mins to activate and sync. by 6:15pm i was up and running.
Stopped at the Apple Store on the way home after dinner with friends. Waited for about 15 minutes for my new 32g White 3G S. In-store activation took seconds and the phone was working before I even left the store. I cam home, swapped SIM cards and backed up my old 3G (seems funny to call it "old"), swapped SIMs back, and synced the new 3G S with iTunes. It took about 30 minutes, but there were no problems. All of my apps and data were loaded and everything works great. The whole process could not have been smoother.
Got my 3GS online pre-order from AT&T. Hooked up to iTunes and it hung there "Waiting for activation. This may take some time". Hung there for two days. Called Apple support and amazingly got right through. No wait. The problem was quickly run down to my new SIM card not being registered. I took my phone to the nearest AT&T store and within a few minutes everything was A-OK.
I hope this helps for anyone out there in teh same situation.
