Let us know if your 3GS purchase, activation, and function are problem free

This forum is, appropriately, a repository of questions and comments from people who are having problems. It sometimes feels like everyone had (or has) one problem or another. Perhaps it would be of value for us to hear from those who have their new 3GS phone up and running problem free. Of course I understand that this forum attracts those with problems, but I also believe that many others without new phone problems are hear to read what is happening with this new product introduction.

Please leave a comment here if your purchase experience, activation, synching and use of your new 3GS has been free of major problems.

why doesn't apple just provide the option to have different icons to turn different features on and off as needed instead of having to go thru the settings icon all the time

when away i like to have wifi off and 3g on and when home the opposite

there are a few times when i want bluetooth on to use the headset, etc.....

just by touching say the bluetooth icon (and maybe a quick confirmation) it would turn that particular setting on or off

has there been any mention of this from apple or other suggestions?????

To Tom in MPLS: There were absolutely no problems with the transfer from 3G to 3GS unless you consider 15 hours (!!) of down time to be a problem.... Phone is solid but slightly poor battery life.

By the way ... What planet are you from?? This string is "ONLY FOR POSITIVE RESPONSES"?? Exactly what on God's little green earth does that accomplish in anyone's world but that of someone who is looking to skew the real world results of this new product. When I read the originating post I thought, "Great! Apple is a professional caring company." Then I read further down and found you lambasting people for answering the original question truthfully. Shame, shame, shame...

I pre-ordered on June 14th and the phone came on the 19th. Everything went perfect the activation through iTunes went very fast and my Sprint number was ported without a problem. So far the phone has been great, the battery did seem to drain kinda fast but I let the battery drain til the phone shut off and recharged completely a couple times and it has been better. I last charged it on Wednesday afternoon and as of right now it still shows 57% charge remaining.

My first iPhone. Pre-registered when I signed up for $99. iPhone with the understanding that I would pay a 10% restocking fee when my new 3GS arrived on 19th. Was first in line at the AT&T store at 6am. Walked out of the store with my new 3GS at 7:10am and a big smile on my face. Although I had time to read a couple books and practice with the 3G before trading it in, I'm still learning. This forum is very helpful, however I find it sometimes provides my with more things to worry needlessly about. Phone has worked flawlessly as far as I know. Last night while laying in bed I couldn't get hooked-up to 3G network?? but it was fine this morning. The whole experience of syncing with iTunes has been wonderful. I use Macs in my work and at home so it was a natural fit. Now if I could only tether...

Flawless experience.

Ordered 3GS unline from Apple store on 10 June - delivered to home address via UPS on 19 June. Used my wife's upgrade to purchase.

when I got home from work, took my existing phone (LG Incite), her old phone (Moto V220), and the new iPhone to the ATT store. Got there a bit after 4:00 pm - no waiting time - rep available to help me immediately.

Activated the iPhone first using the SIM that came with it on her number. then removed old, old SIM from her V220 and tossed it. Did some "magic" with the two remaining SIMS, transferring my number into the iPhone and getting her number back onto the V220. Did some tidying up of the account to get voicemail, data plans, and insurance packages adjusted, tested both phones, and done.

Entire process took about 20 minutes. When I got back home, used iTunes to synch all my contacts, email account info, calendars, notes, etc from Outlook to the iPhone. Worked flawlwssly.

No worries - no issues. My son even adopted the Incite in place of an unlocked HTC 9525 (non-ATT version of the Tilt).

My purchase was PROBLEM FREE, however the activation IS NOT! I already have an ATT account and was just upgrading from 1 iphone to another. I was sent an email from Apple asking that I call in....it's a good thing i'm at work, I have been on HOLD for 2HOURS and 43 MINUTES so far!!! FRIKIN REDICULOS!!!!
Had I not hung up the first time by mistake I could probably add that HOUR & A HALF! >=[ NOT HAPPY!!!! and still not activated...........
