using Spectrasonics Omnisphere with Logic 8

Question

using Spectrasonics Omnisphere with Logic 8

Hi

I have omnisphere installed an working....Well it makes noise anyway.....But any time I enable a midi track and record I see info being put in when i play....But when i play it back after it is recorded I hear nothing......I assume it has to be routed or something.....Can someone help me get this right with steps on how to do it?

It works the same as any other instrument plugin in Logic, whether internal or third-party.

Are you new at this? Ie have you used software instruments before, or is Omnisphere the first time you've ever used an instrument plugin (and it's a pretty large, expensive and complex one to buy before exploring the ones you already have in Logic ( ! )

Have you checked the online tutorial videos at Spectrasonics? They're pretty good, and cover most of the basics...

Do other instruments work in similar situations, or just Omnisphere? Are you using it multi-timbrally, with more than one MIDI channel going?

Ok the situation is is that it is my roomates system and I use it all the time to record.....Everything works and I am very familiar with most of the plugins. So because it is his system and he is in france for the summer I do not have hs login to spectrasonics.

Whether i use it mult timbral or just stereo hasnot made a difference.

Like I said in the original post....It works fine......I can select a patch and start playing and it sounds great.

My process if I was just using it stereo is this

make new instrument track.....goto i/o select omnisphere...then pick my patches....

to record enable track and hit record.....as i play I can see info going into the track......but once i stop and playback I dont hear anything

That is what is happening.....So what am i doing wrong.....

I mean stylus rmx works great etc......but obviously different plugin.....Just saying that so you know that it is not a system wide issue

Sounds to me like the track, or region, is muted...

ok after tinkering and tinkering i got it......i just realized that whatever track that omnisphere is on has to be midi all.....then the rest is the respective channel numbers.....2,3,4, etc....I then created aux tracks in the mixer for each track....seems to work now

Whew.....thank god......cause t is KOOL!
