Can't print using ethernet?

Hello Paul. You may have used a protocol that is not supported by the printer, or set an incorrect queue name if using LPD.

Most printers when they are connected to from Windows use Standard TCP/IP Port > Port 9100. On the Mac, this is called HP Jetdirect-Socket. So, if you haven't tried connecting using this port, then I suggest you add the printer queue again by selecting IP > HP Jetdirect-Socket. Then you can enter the IP address of the printer and search for the appropriate PPD in the Print Using menu.

Is there a way you can print a network configuration page from the printer? This would let you see which printing protocol is enabled.

Also, you mentioned you could see the Epson in the printer browser. Assuming you meant this was via the Add Printer function, what happens if you select this printer? Does it add and select the correct driver?

And, with regards to the driver, have you checked the Epson web for any network drivers. Maybe the one you have instaleed only works via USB? You could look at using a Gutenprint driver to test the connection.

There are several firmware updates and new driver updates for this printer. Have you downloaded and installed the latest updates from Epson? In particular there appears to be an update specifically for Ethernet printing.

Also, Epson likes to live in a world of its own. When printing using Ethernet, you might want to ensure that you are using Epson's printing setup; they have their own subset of the Ethernet printing system under Print & Fax/More Printers. Verify that you added the printer there.

Have you added the printer as an Ethernet printer and chosen that when you print? If you have been using the USB connection, you need to change it when you print via Ethernet.
