iPhone Skipping Songs

Since upgrading to OS 3.0 my iPhone has randomly started to skip songs.
It's not 'Shake to Shuffle' as that's turned off, it's not 'Shuffle' as that's not on either.
At the moment it's two songs specifically, one off an album where the rest play fine, and just a single track. I don't understand it...
If I go into the playlist and tap on the song, the song comes up but jumps to the next, or the third/fourth song after that, and like above, 'Shake to Shuffle' and 'Shuffle' are both turned off...
I've tried restoring my iPhone to the factory settings, i.e. not from a backup, but it still skips the same tracks!! WHY!???
Can anyone help?!

To add to the series

1) shakeshuffle is OFF
2) track is a podcast part of a date based smart playlist ('last 3 days' for example)
3) if you back up to the beginning it will constantly skip the track it starts skipping.
4) if you then go to itunes, start playing even 1 or 2 seconds of the track, and then resync, the track plays normally on the iPhone.
5) this happened with my 16gb iphone 3g and subsequently is also happening with my 32gb iphone 3gs

Bizarre.

Ok, I thought the problem was gone but it wasn't, it just doesn't happens when the iPhone is on the deck. But finally today I find the solution (at least for me). As it is really dull I'm guessing it's only my case, but just in case I post it.
Open iPod app and enter 'artists' for example, pick one, and pick one album. When you play the first song you have a screen with a timeline on top of the screen and under it two icons on both sides for "repeat album/song" and "random play". Mine were blue *by default* but touching them they turn white and that's all. Problem solved. Again... at least for me.

Good luck

Just tried this on my phone, so we'll see if it works. I think it might...

Anyways, go into iTunes and open the music folder on your phone. Select all the songs and right click and choose "Get Info." Select the Options tab and check the box next to remember position and make sure the drop down box next to it says "No." Let that complete and then resync your phone.

I'm currently syncing now. Will update later to see if this resolved the issue.

I think they may have fixed this -- at any rate, it seems to work correctly when the playlist has a small number of tracks. I'd guess Apple is only updating smart playlists with a "small" (between 5 and 2000) number of items in them, which makes sense.

However, they introduced a new bug: the order of tracks on an iTunes playlist is no longer reflected on the device. I'll bet that's really fun if you have, say, Lectures 1-10 on your iPod and you're trying to hear them in order.
