I've had this phone for a few months now but tonight all of a sudden the ear speaker isn't working. everything else works fine and i can use it with the headphones in. any ideas on what may be wrong here?

I Have exactly the same problem, the right ear bud on my set of £G s headphones just cut out this morning, the left is still working perfrectly and the controls still operate. Have you havd any news on this since posting?
Same thing with mine. I have taken excellent care of my phone in a sturdy case since purchased no major drops etc and suddenly my internal ear piece stops working. Speaker phone works, blue tooth works. But internal speaker callers can hear me and I cant hear them. I have tried all the tricks of taking head phones in and out, cleaning out headset jack,resetting phone, and restoring phone and there is still no sound. I hardly ever used my phone on head phone mode so I defiantly don't think that is the issue. I am very disappointed I expected to get full use out of a phone I spent over $400 for, for longer than 18 months.
I took it to the Apple store they tried to pitch getting the 3G or a refurbished 2G for $199. And I am really not interested in either.
