Yes, well, exploring should not be necessary - however Apple refuses to give any useful information about their products or their updated features - so explore we must!
which i already posted at the beginning of this thread. i often wonder if people do actually read threads or just jump in with a complaint without any research.
Ditto. Went to show someone one of my photo playlists today and thought there was an issue with iTunes sync or slideshow set up.
Spent about an hour troubleshooting and recreating slideshows to find this was an issue. Whether I tried to link music within iPhoto OR using the option in the Apple TV to link music to slideshow, I just couldn't link music to a slideshow. Got round it in the end by playing the slideshow whilst using my MacBook Pro iTunes with the 'enable speakers' option for Apple TV.
In the last 3 months I have never had so many glitch issues with OS-X / Apple Software / iPhone OS as I have recently (been using Apple for 10 years or so). All my kit (2 x MPB / Apple TV / Airport Extreme / iPhone) feel very slow and glitchy recently.
Very poor show Apple, not what I expect or have become used to.

After updating, my slideshows that i have worked so hard to perfect no longer play music (that i have specifically assigned using iphoto).
The only way to get ANY music is to go into settings under photos in apple tv. but this ***** because you can't assign a particular song to the slideshow from the apple tv. you can only pick a playlist of songs and that same playlist plays for every slideshow!
Can someone confirm this? How how about those of you that have updated to the iLife 09? I still have the old version of iphoto
Is so, i am sooo bummed. One of the best things about apple tv in my opinion is the ability to play slideshows with specific music assigned for that particular slideshow on my big screen tv. everything from my daughter's newborn baby pictures to trip to the beach were assigned appropriate music.
I share your disappointment with the way tv plays slide shows to music also but mine has always been this way. The only work around is to create a music folder in itunes and place the songs in that folder that you want to hear with a particular slideshow. Try and estimate music time to slide show time as you cannot choose fit to slideshow as in iphoto. Do this for every event that you want to watch in a slideshow on tv. I name my music folder the same as my photo event. Then sync your itunes folders to yourtv. Now before every slideshow go to settings and choose music and the folder that you want to hear with your slideshow and check it. Go back to your photo library and start your slideshow and the music you want will go with your photos. Only problem is when you watch another slideshow you will have to do this again with another music folder, etc, etc.
I do my slideshows the same way now - creating specific music folders to sync to the ATV. But talk about a very clumsy, un-mac way to handle the issue. Best option would be for mac to fix this issue and allow synching of slideshows (as they are in iPhoto) directly to ATV (as it used to be).
