Slow iPhone 3G after 3.0 OS update

Has anyone else had their iPhone 3G slow down after updating the software on it? For me, it's not super slow, it's just a delay of about .5 to 1 second, but when I notcie it, it is exremeley annoying. And when I try to turn the keyboard to the side to text on it, it's also kinda slow. And if anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me. I have already deleted all of the apps that I don't use and it made it a little bit faster. Or could you just tell me if this is normal. Thank you for taking time to read this.

Same here , bud... 3.0 is fun and useful, but quite annoying on the reliability side.

Hi out there. If you all want to do something about this you have to let apple know about your problems in a kind of massive way. I just filed in a feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/ at there feedback page for the iPhone. Maybe if there are huge amounts of feedback on the laggy behaviour of the iPhone OS 3.0 according to the iPhone 3G, they will do something about it?? So go there, file a feedback.

Actually, you are right. I did notice that the battery is lasting less than it used to and as some have mentioned I also noticed that when charging the iPhone 3G it is getting hotter than usual. I have bluetooth OFF and I even put the Airplane mode ON when I don't need the phone to save some battery life. Do you think the battery needs replacement (it is not even 7 months since I bought the iPhone 3G) or is it something Apple has to fix in OS 3.0?

Well my iPhone is back to being as slow as before I restored it. Typing has gotten insanely slow and apps are lagging to launch once more. (Hard restarts don't solve anything; I do it three times a day and it doesn't help!!!)

ilikeappleproducts: I think the battery drainage is just due to your phone working extra hard to handle the more intensive OS. My phone is two months old and its battery drains faster too.

Looks like I'm going to have to hack my iPhone back to OS 2.X until Apple updates its 3.X to specifically improve iPhone 3G performance. This really blows.

I too can report many functions on my iPhone 3G working much more slowly than they did before I installed 3.0. There is a lot of chatter on the web about 3.0 being an effort on Apple's part to force 3G owners into purchasing the new 3GS but, for those of us who are not yet eligible to upgrade, the price is prohibitive and I think it would serve Apple well, from a PR standpoint, to figure out how to get the 3G back to its pre-3.0 speed. This just doesn't look good...

The first suggestion is to do a hard reset by holding down the home key and the on/off button at the same time. Turning the phone off once a day will also clear up any memory sap, especially for users who use a lot of apps throughout the day, and is recommended for everybody.

The next suggestion is to disable push notifications. When push is enabled, not just does it sap resources from the phone (making things just a touch slower), but it also saps battery life. An iPhone in 3G mode with push notification enabled won't have a long battery life, and if it's being used much, forget about it.

A final resort would be to reset all settings, which would require some time to rearrange apps, etc. and should only be necessary if all else fails.

Also, I would suspect that Apple is aware of these issues, and is working on an upgrade that will, hopefully, be available soon.

I was dealing with the same issues of slow or frozen apps and homescreens and tried all the remedies short of "reset all settings (although, I think setting up as a new phone during a fresh restore takes care of this) but nothing worked. It would start to slow down after one day of use. So, I reverted back to 2.2.1 and am glad I did. Hopefully, 3.1 will be the remedy!
