NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB

Is there anyway of getting the nvidia 9600m gt in a 13 inch macbook pro?

No. You have to buy at least a midrange 15" MBP to get it.

Just want to contribute to that post. I'm really surprised about 9600MGt graphic card performance with 3d modeling program like sketchup. Google strongly recommends sketchup users a 512Mo dedicated graphic solution. That was the main reason for me to buy the 2.8Ghz + 512 config. I'm quite disappointed now, because there's absolutely no improvement running sketchup with the 512 card.



I run a performance test for sketchup with both 9400M and 9600MGT graphic cards on the same machine and results are unfortunately similar. Can any mac users confirm my observations ?

I discovered recently that my new MBP can't play most JAVA based streaming webcams smoothly if I use the 9400. When I switch over to the 9600 (I have the 512mb card) it plays these same sites perfectly!

I am wondering why my 7 year old Powerbook G4 is able to play these same streaming cam images with no problem, while the 9400 in these new machines looks like a slide show?

The biggest drawback to using the 9600 graphics is that the machine gets REALLY HOT! I am using Fancontrol to keep things cool, but man! I would much prefer using the 9400 which runs nice and cool, but it seems incapable of handling all but the most basic graphic applications. :o(
