24 inch LED cinema Display momentarily goes black

I have a 24inch LED Cinema Display attached to the mini-display port of a ATI Radeon HD 4870, with a 23inch Cinema Display attached to the other port. The 23 inch is fine but the 24 inch display every so often goes BLACK for a second or two. I thought it was the display and had it replaced but it's happening with the replacement. Perhaps the video card, or even the mini-display port on the card? Anyone having this issue or have any ideas? I appreciate your help.

2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Mac OS X (10.5.7), 8GB ram

Here's the firmware update.

Works for thunderbolt macs with 24' LED.

Just installed it, so far so good 🙂

Just curious if anyone has seen this problem happen with Snow Leopard yet? I installed 10.6 on Friday and after 2 days of use, I haven't seen my Cinema Display black out.....yet.

MacPro with ATI Radeon 4870 and 24" LED Cinema.

SL 10.6.1 running and I also have the blackouts. I use the long cable from Dr.Bott without any binders. I never touch the cable or the connection.

I too have the same problem. Bought the LED Cinema Display yesterday (30/12) and get the intermittent black screen 2-3 times per hour.

Using:
Macbook Pro 15" unibody (June 2009)
MacOSX 10.6.2

I'm having the same problem with my MBP. But I have noticed that it only begins to happen after the display has been put to sleep at least once.

Yes, this has also started on my system after the newest firmware from yesterday...!

Same problem - my monitor has been plugged into my machine for only 2 days - brand new from the box. Apple gave me a Gefen converter to patch this monitor in to my older mac pro's DVI port.

I rebooted with extensions off, and that seems to have worked - 24 hours so far with no blackout. Thanks for the tip!
