bluetooth a2dp and play/pause?

When I heard iPhone OS 3.0 would support stereo bluetooth (A2DP), I went out and bought myself a Motorola T505 handsfree kit. This is a great device which include an FM transmitter, allowing me to stream high quality audio from my phone to my car stereo.

Here's my problem: I know that the AVRCP profile is not supported in 3.0, but when I connected my old iPhone 3G to the T505, at least I could use the play/pause button on the T505. Now that I have a shiny new 3GS, the play/pause button doesn't work anymore. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this working again, and if so, how?

Thanks.

I had a similar experience with the Motorokr S9-HD and found at least a workaround. It seemed when I connected to non A2DP headset, whether it was used or not, the S9-HD could no longer control the playback. If I shut down the iPhone and the headsets and then restarted the iPhone and the S9-HD but not the other non A2DP headset it would again control the play function.

I had the same problem with the 3G but on the 3G the skip and replay/back functions worked with the S9-HD but these functions do not work on the 3GS.

I have also noticed that the audio stream cuts out and I believe this is caused when my exchange server is doing a push - with push disabled I do not have the problem.

Hope this helps and hopefully Apple will get these issues fixed ASAP.

I had the same problem in my Iphone 3G the T505 play/puase button would work and when I paired with my Iphone 3GS it was working as well then stopped. I saw your not working period. Today I got it working again and wanted to post what I did to make it work. The next time your in your car,
First: Turn off the bluetooth on the Iphone

Second: Turn on the T505 Motorola and wait for the voice to say to pair 0000 since it will not find anything to connect to.

Third: Turn on the Iphone Bluetooth.

Fourth: After the beeps of the T505 hit the Play/Pause button and it should work.

I hope this works for you.

I have a Sony DR-BT140Q bluetooth headset. It also had the same problem; the play/pause button stopped working in 3GS. I turned the phone OFF while it was still paired with the headset. The headset got disconnected from the phone. Then, I turned the phone back ON and restarted the headset for it to be paired again with the phone. Weirdly, this made it to get the play/pause button functionality back to working!
