3GS cases

Just curious to what people think are the best cases.

I have researched around and think I have narrowed it down. I need a case that isn't just silicon because they stretch to much for me and I sometimes drop my phone.

Does anyone have experience with either of these cases: if so list pros and cons

GaGa4Mac,

Vaja cases will, like other cases, add bulk to the phone. It's hard for me to say whether or not it's too much bulk for you. It's been only a minor problem for me.

I haven't noticed any scratching from the case.

The exposed corner (at camera) is vulnerable. I dropped one of my earlier phones a few times and one time it landed right on that corner.

I have one of the Rebel cases (not this one). Don't like it because the case covers the volume controls and when holding the phone in landscape I change the ringer volume without knowing it. Hole for earphone jack is a bit small (on the Rebel I have) and I had to ream it out a bit.

I have one of the simpler Agent 18 cases and it is what I use now: No unplanned volume changes. Good fit and volume controls and top switch are exposed. Also very good clearance around earphone jack.

Incase sliders have a good reputation.

One place to get good reviews of cases they sell is the Apple Store:

Lots of data there (just click on a case) to wade through but may be helpful.

Otterbox Defender. A little bulky -- certainly not sleek like the iFrogz -- but I have dropped my phone several times and after 2 years and several slides across the asphalt, still not a mark on it. I pre-ordered my new 3GS and had the new Otterbox here before the phone arrived. $29.95 on Ebay.

I agree. I've had an otterbox on every iPhone I've had. 1st gen, 3G and now my 3GS and this is by far the only case I've found that I like and protects my phone. I go through tons of cases with this phone and previous models of phones. I love this case. Very good protection.

I just my 3GS and a Griffin Clarifi:
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/clarifi

The Clarifi seems to be similar to the Incase, only that it has a slidable macro lens built in, that can double as a protector for the iPhone's camera. The camera lens cover on the iPhone scratches extremely easily and if it does it basically renders the camera useless. So the Clarifi is a good investment, even if you don't use the macro lens. It also hardly adds to the size of the iPhone and all buttons remain easily accessible.
