IPhone 3Gs Voice Control does not work

Purchased IPhone 3Gs 32g beside having no service were I live (AT&T is building a cell tower about a mile from my house) my Voice control only works about 1% of the time. For the Ipod I usually get some kind of error message “like listing not found” when it does find an album or artist it always the same one. I am sick of hearing Santana. For call when I do get a signal I also usually get an error message or if it works it pick on of my doctors and that’s it.
Went to the Genesis bar and they said it was a software problem, they gave me a new IPhone with my old sims card, but the did not test the new IPhone Voice control in the store because there were on contacts or albums in the memory.
Got home synced the new one and guess what same exact problem. I have read and tried everything on the internet and nothing has worked any ideas or suggestions ? Please help I tired of listing to Santana and calling Dr. Aronald.

Seems like the English version is not doing so well, but has anyone experienced trouble like the one I had using Norwegian as language:

I played around with the voice control to play various artist, and it mostly failed; it constantly played the wrong artist. But then "Play" is interpreted as "Call" and the person seems pretty random. The cancel command is completely ignored, but fortunately the touch screen obeyed.

At its current state the voice control is pretty much useless.

I was having no success with dialing contacts in my address book. Since I have my address' displayed as Last Name - First Name I tried reversing the order of the name spoken (i.e Last Name, First Name, Mobile) and and suddenly I can dial most of the names in my contact list. It appears that you need to say the name in the same order as you have it set in Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendar - Contacts Sort Order.

Sorry the last line of the last post should have said "Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendar - Contacts Display Order" not "Sort Order".

I've had my 3GS for a week and the voice dialling is briliant, after I figured out to speak softly. At first I thought to speak boldly and clearly and it always called the wrong entry. Just like your wife, it responds much better if you don't shout at it. Very useful in the car and I generally use the supplied earphones. Admittedly these posts are a few months old and I started right off with OS 3.1.

I have one outstanding problem with Voice Dial:
A lot of offices use an automated entry system that requires you to dial additional numbers: "Dial 1 for Sales, Dial 2 for Service ...". Once the phone has started dialling it seems to switch off the the voice response. So there I am driving along, safely tell my phone to call Fred Nurk, then suddenly have to fumble with unlocking the phone, calling up the keypad and dial a number. Not very safe.

Anything I missed? Is there a solution to this?
