How To Disable Voice Command Feature permanently

I want to disable the Voice Command feature permanently. I know that it can be disabled when the iPhone 3GS is locked, but I want to disable it completely. Is it possible?

Apple! Please release a patch to turn this feature off. It's weak, and not all of us want to use it. I'd much rather have the ability to map another feature to holding the home button.

Take it going by these comments there's no way of disabling it?

Just sent my phone off for repair, went 2 weeks without it, paid £50 excess and it's still doing it!

It's got the stage where i have to keep it on flight mode at night cause it makes about 3 - 4 phone calls!

Some times I can't even send a text as it keeps interrupting... Gonna have to bin the phone and get a cheap reliable one if this keeps happening...

Any help?

Ok - people there is a difference between voice OVER and voice CONTROL. The latter is the topic of discussion. Turning off voice OVER does not affect voice CONTROL.

The posts that talk about enabling Siri, setting your pass code, then disabling Siri when locked worked for me. My problem was that VC would activate when the iPod touch was sleeping and the home button would be held. Now all that happens is it asks for my passcode.

It won't fix everyone, but that workaround should do for now.

Wahhhhhh

I have an iPhone 4, and my home button is sort of broken.

The button is not working at all, but sometimes the iPhone starts randomly the voice control. It seems the home bottom is stuck between not working an always pressed.

So even unwanted calls are made by accident.

Not found a way to turn off voice control completely...silly!!!!

I would love to use the SIRI solution but my 3Gs doesn't have a SIRI selection in Settings. I just started having this problem yesterday. It started while the ear phones were plugged in but has continued after they were removed. The phone can just be sitting on the table untouched then it decides to randomly dial someone. So far, I've been able to cancel the calls but how do I stop calls when I'm asleep? Turn the phone off? I simply cannot have a phone that dials random people at random times of the day or night. If this continues, it pretty much kills the usability of the phone and makes it highly unlikely that I would purchase an iPhone again in the future even though I loved this phone up until this problem occurred. It's unacceptable that this has been a known, severe problem for years and Apple hasn't bothered to develop a fix. I'm going to try and find a way to load SIRI on my phone just so I can attempt the SIRI fix.

For iPhone4 that is going crazy and starting up at random times...

  • Open a default iOS application, such as Stocks, Calculator, or Weather
  • Press and hold down the Power button until the “Slide to Power Off” dialog appears, then release
  • Now press and hold the Home button until the “Slide to Power Off” screen disappears, force quitting the application

Why this works to fix the buttons responsiveness isn’t entirely clear, because the procedure actually just force quits the application you launched in the first step. This procedure supposedly recalibrates the Home button. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, it does seem to work.

Tested and it WORKS. Weird solution, but it DOES work!

Thank goodness. No phone throught the wall.
