Iphone sync error 13001...URGENT

So I updated my iphone from 2.2 to 3.0 yesterday and then restored all my contacts + other stuff all was good. Then i tried to resync my music...It started as normal showing ex: 15 of 167 songs or whatever but at the end it said "XXXX Iphone" could not be synced error (13001) (something similar). When i went to check my ipod on the iphone it said "No Content" but when i checked the music section under iphone in itunes it showed the music there.
I restored the iphone again and it still didn't work.
Please advise on how to solve. I am using iphone 3G.
URGENT.

Suggested solutions i found around the web:
- disabling Anti-Virus software (i have none so... pointless)
- removing all mp3 with sample rate above 44kHz (did it, didn't work for me)

Until today, i updated my apps. And for some reason, now I sync without problems.
Hope i've helped.

Hi all- I had the same issue with my iPod touch 2g- I think it has something to do with the sample rate of a movie/song/tv show. Plug the iPod in and sort your music by sample rate- if there is anything other than 41000 khz it will give the error. Also, if a movie is encoded without a sample rate or sample rate "unknown", the error will occur. Get rid of those files or convert them then re-sync.

No errors.

Thanks for solving this problem I have as well. Funny thing is that after I bought my iPod Touch 2G 32GB, I could - using iTunes - add music files as often as I wanted, without any problems. After two weeks I tried to upload files again, and than I got the same error message. I'm running McAfee by the way and using msconfig I disabled this program from running.

MSCONFIG solved this problem. I both unticked the services and start items. Than after the reboot I could synch my iPod without any problems. After that I consolidated my library. Anyway, I'm running OS 3.0 on my iPod, and to be honoust these problem should not occur !!! I'm very disappointed in this. No good merchandise from Apple Inc.

I don't know if this works for the iPhone, but I guess it should be.
Oh, by the way: inserting CDs caused iTunes not to recognise these! AND, therefore I copied all music files to my local drive.

Make sure that the following services are running: RPC, bonjour, iPod Service, Apple Mobile Device, ASP .NET State Service, DCOM Server Process Launcher, Server, Workstation, Plug and Play.

NOT the way it should be, but I hope Apple will come up with a serious SUPERB working iTunes !!!

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

Laonda

I figured out a solution. itunes must take an action on the ipod before syncing in order to not recieve the error, for example removing apps followed by syncing podcasts. What i did was untick the boxes for sync in the apps tab and tick the box to sync podcasts. Itunes first uninstalled the apps and then synced the podcasts without error. The error isn't received when syncing apps so after your music or podcasts are synced you can re install the apps that you removed. hope this helps, worked for me.

Alrighty folks,

I'm not a geek (not that there's anything wrong with being a geek 😉 ), but I learn by trial and error. So I'm not an apple guru or an iPhone know-it-all. But I was also receiving the following well known "13001 error" message, while trying to sync my music onto my iPhone.

I updated iTunes to the most current version and then proceeded to update my iPhone as well. So after completing all the necessary updates that I thought would help me be successful in the syncing process, it "Failed".

So I attempted the following steps:

1. Open iTunes after connecting your iPhone

2. It should automatically prompt you to create a "Backup". Press okay!

3. Then click on "Restore" under your iPhone tab.

4. It should also ask you if you want to back up your phone after the "Restore" make sure to click on the "Ok" button.

5. Let the Restore run until complete

6. After it is complete it will have the option to restore to your "Backup".

7. Once this is complete go to your "Music Tab" located at the top of iTunes not in the side panel. Then I checked "Sync Music" and then selected "Select Playlists, artists and genres". Then I selected all my playlists since that's all my music! After that I hit "Sync".

8. And success! All my contacts, calendar reminders, call logs, text messages, etc. was restored during the backup. Except for my apps, which I don't really care about that much....but I think I can go to my applications tab and restore them...maybe not. Oh well! I'm just happy to have my MuSic.

I hope this helps you, happy trails!!! 🙂

I have this problem only after i updated to iTunes version 9. I am already on firmware 3.0 on my iphone.i've no problems with synching music and movies until now.I thought the problem could be the iTunes version 9 but i see some users having this problem even when they are on version 7 or 8. Same symptoms as described by users with the above error 13001. I can only sync photos but not music and movies.I did what you suggested and it worked. But this solution seems temporary in which we have to go back and forth rebooting and unchecking our startup items. ALL other suggestions by other users tried and failed. My antivirus is Spyware Doctor from PC tools, i disabled this as well. This works for me so far. Do share with me if you found a permanent solution. Thank you heaps!
