3.0 Causing Multiple Copies of Invites to be sent through Exchange

This only occurs when we are using distrubtion lists and sending from Outlook 2003. Can anyone else test and confirm this is a problem with 3.0 and not our environment. If we expand the distribution list before sending there is no issue. We have had upwards of 15 invites sent to the same person.

We are having this same issue (as well as missing calendar appointments) with iPhone users in our company since the 3.0 upgrade. This has caused some frustration for our executives which, in turn, has caused a fair amount of heartburn for the IT department.

We have had the issue with iPhone users who make changes to calendar items with Outlook 2003 & 2007 (all connecting to Exchange 2003).

We are having this exact same, very annoying, problem.
Situation:
1. User with an iPhone on 3.0.x, creates meeting and sends it to an exchange distribution list, which they are also a member of.
2. Meeting request is sent out to users and they accept.
3. Update is sent to the original creator of the meeting, they delete it from their inbox.
4. A update is then sent to everyone on the distribution list.

*When the above situation is true and the creator turns off their iPhone, the problem is not present.

*Every "update" sent from the original creator contains "MIME-Version: 1.0 (iPhone Mail 7A400)" in the message header.

We have instructed our iPhone 3.0.x users to remove themselves from the "To:" field, when they send a meeting request to an exchange distribution list.

I have had the same problem.

When you send an invitation to someone who you have delegate permission for. After the user has accepted the invitation and you then delete the request that you have received on there behalf, it will keep resending the original appointment. The problem only occurs on users who are using an iphone with version 3.0 and 3.0.1.

I am running exchange 2003 sp2 and are running outlook 2003 sp3.

I tried the remove/readd email fix in our environment, and it worked - for a while.

Our specific issue is with an admin assistant who manages to multiple calendars (she is a delegate). She never uses her iPhone to create/modify the event, but invitees still receive multiple invites to the event. The fix mentioned in this thread seemed to correct the problem - I removed the email account, restored the iPhone, and then added the account back. No problems were reported for about 15 days, but then the problem reappeared this morning.

I am going to attempt a firmware downgrade to 2.2.1 and see if that resolves the issue. I'll post back results when I have some.

Just to add a bit to this -

I got a ticket from a user today having this same issue. I believe he is using iTunes to sync his calendar also because there are some .home subfolder calendars. Also, he appears to have cancelled a recurring meeting and instead of sending out one meeting notice, it sent out one for each day.

Can the iPhone not understand recurrence?
