3.0 Causing Multiple Copies of Invites to be sent through Exchange

This only occurs when we are using distrubtion lists and sending from Outlook 2003. Can anyone else test and confirm this is a problem with 3.0 and not our environment. If we expand the distribution list before sending there is no issue. We have had upwards of 15 invites sent to the same person.

We have a Similar problem. For the first time on the iPhone the 3.0 Calendar includes Invitees. If we create an Event in Outlook (though MS Exchange) that us linked to a Contact, but the Contact is NOT sent an Invitation -- the Event is pushed to the iPhone and the Invitee is displayed in the details on the iPhone. No Invitation or notice is sent to the subject Contact.

BUT, if you subsequently open the Event and make any change such as modifying the Alert; when you save the change the iPhone begins to send out Invitations to the Invitee(s) listed in the Event and will continue to do so every 1 to 3 minutes until the Event is deleted on the iPhone (not from within Outlook).

This also occurs if the entire event is initiated in the iPhone only and a change is subsequently made to that Event in the iPhone.

I am having a similar issue, though I can replicate it without using a distribution list.

Environment Detail:
Sever: Exchange 2003 on SBS
Workstation Client: Outlook 2003 SP3 running on WinXp SP3
Client: iPhone 3G, OS 3.0
Itunes v8.2.0.23

The problem started this morning, the affected user upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0 last night.
The iPhone was also configured to use the corporate WiFi network yesterday, just prior to the 3.0 update.

After examining the sent appointments, I notice that the invitees are in a different order each time. Could be related to the LDAP contact lookup function new in 3.0?

Could be the WiFi switching its active sync connection between the corporate network and ATT's?

All signs point to OS 3.0 being the only significant change to the environment.

I have removed the Exchange Mailbox from the affected user's iPhone until this issue is resolved.

Possible Fix:
I removed the exchange account from the device, then tried to reconnect to the Exchange server. The phone kept failing to verify the account settings even after manually accepting the server certificate. (Self Signed). I power cycled the phone and tried to connect to the mailbox again. The connection succeeded, and I can no longer replicate the original problem from the affected user's Outlook or iPhone.

Easy fix if the problem doesn't come up again-

Ok, this did solve the issue for us. Yes it is a possible fix, so if you are personally having this problem and your IT department is making you remove your the Exchange mailbox from your phone, try this out.

I don't however think this is what most IT deparments would be looking for. We basically would have to track down all users with an IPhone and do this, which would be time consuming. It would be nice if Apple just fixed what ever querk screwed this up and makes you have to remove/readd.

We are having the same problem, I have contacted Apple with this issue has I'm sure most of you have too. They let me know that my issue must be a Microsoft problem and gave me a Microsoft number to call. I then called Microsoft and they let me know it must be an iPhone issue, go figure! Our problem started with the new 3.0 upgrade and Apple refuses to admit they have a problem.

We're only seeing this problem with one user. (Exchange 2003 SP2 and iPhone 3.0.) Problem started right after upgrade to 3.0. However, problem only appears when the user is both an invitee and the meeting organizer. When Exchange tries to process the meeting acceptance (or decline) from the meeting organizer (a no-no to Exchange) it burps and starts spitting meeting invites out to everyone. Problem does not occur when the organizer is not an invitee.
