Iphone 3GS... Is it dead.

I got my 3gs a week ago from today and have been exclusively charging through my MBP's usb. Today my phone died in the car on the way to my vacation house in the middle of nowhere (somewhere being where there is an apple store). I get there and immediately plug the phone in and walk away. I come back two hours later to find it still stuck on the low battery screen it gives you before it starts up. I have tried to plug it into my computer to no avail. I have also tried to reset it and the low battery screen returns. Can anyone help??

Not necessarily. The OS can currupts and give a low battery screen, yet respond to a DFU. It's worth a try and can't hurt the phone.

yea ive tried starting in dfu but yeah it brings right back to the dead battery screen. gah i wish i wasn't 3 hours from the closest apple store.

Hmmm,

After a little bit of a charge and a third hard reset, it came back from the dead and shows 66% charge?

You're lucky you don't have to fly 2 hours to another country to get to the nearest apple store...

no new data to add, they gave me a new phone at the apple store. just a pain. Didn't have a phone for 4 days.....i realized the crack I'm addicted to that is the "iphone"

Battery or software. I've had much of the same prolems here. last few days flat battery screen. Has been on allday today with no problems. So what is the answer.

After one week, the battery is dead.......dont start.

In service at the time, post update when i get i back.
