WiFi Problem

I am not sure if this is a problem or not, but after I put my iPod Touch (running 3.0, 2nd Gen) into Sleep mode, the WiFi turns off. Is there any way to keep it on? I need to have my WiFi on all the time. Thanks!

What do you mean by having to "manually connect" to a network? Do you mean that you have to manually locate the network and/or enter your passkey after waking up the Touch? You shouldn't have to do that (with 2.x or 3.0) so if that's what you're seeing then it sounds like something is wrong. I've had all versions of OS from 2.0 through 3.0 and my 2g Touch always wakes up rembembering my network (assuming it is still within range). While it is asleep (not all the way off) is seems to continue receiving e-mail, but not after some (undetermined) amount of time.

There is an issue where if your network does not broadcast its SSID then the Touch will forget, but that may not be your issue, and that problem also exists with 2.x.

What I meant by manually connect was that I had to select the wifihotspot after waking it up in order to have it join. Before 3.0, it would join itself back to the wifi hotspot without any action from me.

SOLUTION: I have reset the security for all Wifi hotspots in our workplace to WPA2. The "manual" connection was only needed if the hotspot was WPA (didn't check WEP). Now my iPod works like 2.2.1 and it automatically connects again after being in sleep mode! 🙂
