this is a new feature.
when you do not have headphones plugged in OR have your iPod docked into speakers, the volume controls have been removed. i actually think it makes it all look a lot neater without the unnecessary volume controls when docked. i really like it.
Yeah, really useful - NOT. With my Touch docked on the treadmill, I can no longer turn the volume up high enough to hear it. In the noisy environment of the gym, I needed to turn the volume on the dock AND the Touch up. Now I can't turn up the Touch and can't hear my movies. 3.0 s-u-c-k-s
well i'm sorry to hear that. i guess that is a problem, but for MY dock changing the volume on the iPod doesn't have an effect on the volume coming from the speakers. aesthetically for me it's just nicer. i can understand your frustration.
maybe you can get round it by turning the volume up to full while you have headphones plugged in, then plugging it into your dock?
I'm missing my own volume slider as well... can't get it back no matter what I do. Apple Gen. Bar is fully booked - can't get in to talk to someone... Frustrated.
I've had this problem, too. I wanted to listen to a track through my 2nd gen's speaker When I unplugged the headphones, the volume bar disappeared and no sound came from iPod's speaker.
I figured out how to fix it. The reason it happened is b.c. your dock turned off while ur iphone/itouch was plugged in.
FiX:
1. Plug ur iphone into your dock (If airplane mode asked to turn on say yes)
2. Play a song
3. Pull out iphone/itouch while song is playing.
4. Problem solved ur volume bar should be there now.
Iagree. This is very frustrating. I now cannot adjust the volume when I use iTrip in the car unless I plug in headphones too, which is a pain. Anyone got any more suggestions?
Apple....pls put back the volume bar in your next update,
