iHome radio stops ringing?

Ok, I got a new iHome radio with ipod/iphone dock! it's pretty good.. but when it is not in ipod mode it will not ring! so if I am listening to the Radio (AM/FM for example) the phone does not ring,

I also noticed that when it's in iPod mode that the rings come thu the stereo speakers no the phone!.. seems to be a flaw because I have an iHome lamp that has the same issue.. am i missing a setting here?
