Hello guys I have a slight problem.....My Macbook has a DNS Changer Trojan Virus.....This is what Apple tech told me.......What anti-virus programs are you using to get rid of this? The Apple tech told me the last time he heard of this was 8 months ago...Thanks
Tim I went to Library/Internet Plug-ins and clicked on it but there is nothing there....I am pretty sure when the Apple Tech was helping me he moved it somewhere...YES it was unlocked
Open your network preferences. Then click on the 'Location' drop down menu, choose 'edit locations' Then from the drop down window click the + sign, and a new location 'untitled' will appear. give your new location a name, type any name of your choosing.
Then click 'Done'
then click apply
restart your mac.
Then reconnected to your home network and check to see what dns servers you have been assigned.
Ok I should have elaborated a bit more. I was asking if a trojan can enter DNS addresses into the Airport router settings instead of the computer? I have a couple of grey DNS's in my my router settings. If I click in the DNS fields they appear empty. The numbers reaper when I click out of the fields. I don't know if they are normal (assigned by the ISP). Have some fairly major networking issues.
Issues do appear to be related to one of the computers.
Oh! Okay. Sorry for misunderstanding what you were asking. Unfortunately, I don't know because I don't have an airport router. Usually, though, gray DNS settings are indicative that the device is using DNS automagically passed down to it from a higher authority because the device is a DHCP client. You could call your ISP and ask them what should the IP addresses of their primary and backup DNS servers be.
