ipod shuffle 3rd gen headphones problem

I would just like to share my weird experience with the earphones of the 3rd gen shuffle, as we all know the problem of the earphones while working out, so after a few days i tried using again my busted earphones and amazingly it worked ok again, the volume controls was doing fine for at least an hour so i thought it was only a small glitch but then after an hour the problem started, you can increase the volume but can't lower it then after a few minutes the volume decreased by itself. I hope all of our messages are reaching apple and solve this problem as soon as possible!

I actually bought the belkin adapter and now use a different headset with the shuffle 3rd gen. Haven't had an issue since I changed out the headphones. Belkin adapter has the controller near the unit itself, and works just fine. It's $19.99 at Best Buy or online. Good luck!

Hi,
I'm having the following problems. When I work out, after a while the volume controls just stop working. I guess it's the moisture problem that is discussed everywhere. It's inadmissible that Apple didn't test this device in these conditions. Now, the volume in each phone (L and R) are different, so the R side is higher than L. I guess that, again, it's the moisture problem.
I hope that my problem will be solved soon. I'm very dissappointed with what is my first Apple device.

I received my ipod shuffle 3rd gen on Christmas of 2009 and having to go through Christmas 2010 reminded me of the crappiest present I've ever gotten. I like the iPod shuffle's concept, but proprietary headphones that control everything? No thanks, I'd rather stick to the 2nd generation shuffle. Too bad my 2nd gen crapped out on me.

So I'm stuck with the 3rd gen at the moment, and guess what? The remote doesn't work. I can hear just fine, but the volume/skip functions don't work at all. It completely ignores me.

I checked in on Apple's headphone replacement program and mine doesn't fall in the serial numbers that are eligible. I'm not spending $30 for the worst proprietary headphones I've ever experienced.

Anyone know an alternative or ANYTHING I can do? I'd hate to toss the iPod itself when it's only these cheap, CHEAP, CHEAP headphones that are messed up. Thanks.

By the way, 2nd gen Shuffle is the best shuffle to date. Simple, well built like a brick.

Hello few weeks ago i thought that my ipod Shuffle 3rd wasbroken cause the headphones controls was not respond (play/pause, +/-) and when i powered the ipod on was orange blinking.
I bought now a new set of headphones and are seems to work (orange blinking stoped, next, pause, voiceOver) except +/- buttons.
I restored my ipod twice but nothing change.
What can i do? I checked the option on itunes about volume limit but its disable so its not that.

i hav a headphone problem as well....4 every pair of head phones i use only the right one will work. to get the left to work i have to pull the connection cord to a certain angle and keep it that way. i currently have duck taped my headphones onto my ipod to keep it at that angle and its getting annoying....
my aunt also has the same problem with her ipod. (it happens to be the same gen as mine bc we got ours at the exact same time.)
any ideas on how to fix this problem?
