ipod shuffle 3rd gen headphones problem

I would just like to share my weird experience with the earphones of the 3rd gen shuffle, as we all know the problem of the earphones while working out, so after a few days i tried using again my busted earphones and amazingly it worked ok again, the volume controls was doing fine for at least an hour so i thought it was only a small glitch but then after an hour the problem started, you can increase the volume but can't lower it then after a few minutes the volume decreased by itself. I hope all of our messages are reaching apple and solve this problem as soon as possible!

I actually bought the belkin adapter and now use a different headset with the shuffle 3rd gen. Haven't had an issue since I changed out the headphones. Belkin adapter has the controller near the unit itself, and works just fine. It's $19.99 at Best Buy or online. Good luck!

Recently purchased the 3rd Generation iPod Shuffle (Not a serial number included in the replacement program). I have not been able to get through one workout with this product without it failing due to moisture. I bought this shuffle to replace a Nano that never failed during a workout but required the use of an armband. There is clearly something wrong with this product as this is the first iPod, Walkman, Rio, Portable CD player I've ever had that failed during a workout. I was drawn to the small size and I assume most others also purchased this product for exercising. I have also tried both the Belkin Adaptor ($20) and the iLuv Adaptor ($10) and both failed during the first workout as well... usually about 30 minutes before it flakes out. Do not buy this product if you intend to use it exercise with! This is a lemon and should be avoided.

I have replaced my headphones - they were acting up - not working correctly - wouldn't change songs - volume wouldn't work - NOW the new pair of headphones that I bought are not working correctly! It is so frustrating! I like to wear them when I go running - but the volume won't increase! My ipod touch is too bulky to take out on a run - I don't want to invest in ANOTHER pair of faulty headphones! Obviously if a SECOND pair is having problems - the whole thing must be problematic! RECALL!!!!

Hi guys,

I'm using a Ipod 4G (which is great) but my friend don't like the earphones. So when he's using my ipod, he plugs in his old sony headphone which makes him much happier. Now he's planning to buy his own Ipod, a new shuffle but he's got issues with the earphones again.
Is there any possibility to use his old Sony's together with the remote? And is it original by Apple (read buyable from the I store)?

Well let me tell ya'll a little story about ipods.
Wife got me a 3rd gen shuffle for fathers day and within 30 days I am having issues (from reading these posts sound like ear bud problems). I take it to the apple store and have to make an appointment to talk to one of these pothead genius morons. My shuffle is no 31 days old at time of my appointment I want a refund and all they will do for me is give me a exchange. Guess what they give me just the shuffle and the POS is still screwing up.
What ever happen to 30day money back guarantee? I am planing on taking this trashy POS in the same overly busy apple store on a saturday afternoon and making loud issue of this and hopefully costing this POS company some sales while getting at the very least a new set of head phones which the ********* should have given me in the first place!
Oh yeah btw this is the third POS ipod that has failed in my family in less than a year and customer support has done NOTHING!!!!!!
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER APPLE PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!
BUY GATEWAY AND ZUNE!!!! You'll spend less and be happier!

Hi All,

I just got a shuffle a little while ago & am having problems with the headphones as well - it keeps repeating the name of the song or goes through the names of the playlist, as if I am holding down the middle button. The problem started after riding my bicycle while using the ipod.

So can you tell me if the headphones will work correctly once again if they are dried out?

I used my 3rd gen shuffle for the 2nd time today while mowing the grass & experienced the same problems as everyone else, volume wouldn't work, then the voice over kept coming on over & over, finally the controls just stopped working altogether. I got mine at best buy so I'll probably try taking it back there first since ther's no Apple store nearby. Does the 2nd gen shuffle sound any better? The 3rd gen is really weak on bass response.

I've just bought a third generation to replace an existing shuffle and wish i had visited this forum prior to buying. I can't believe apple who are usually so good have come up with a design and not bothered to think about the end user - who are mainly people who wear the shuffle for exercise. I was so annoyed at the weekend when i set the shuffle up, got ready to go and then thought what the **** it can only work with these stupid headphones! then checking the apple store couldn't find an adaptor or sports headphones that would work with it. Very annoying and i have to say will think twice about purchasing again 😟
