ipod shuffle 3rd gen headphones problem

I would just like to share my weird experience with the earphones of the 3rd gen shuffle, as we all know the problem of the earphones while working out, so after a few days i tried using again my busted earphones and amazingly it worked ok again, the volume controls was doing fine for at least an hour so i thought it was only a small glitch but then after an hour the problem started, you can increase the volume but can't lower it then after a few minutes the volume decreased by itself. I hope all of our messages are reaching apple and solve this problem as soon as possible!

I actually bought the belkin adapter and now use a different headset with the shuffle 3rd gen. Haven't had an issue since I changed out the headphones. Belkin adapter has the controller near the unit itself, and works just fine. It's $19.99 at Best Buy or online. Good luck!

Totally agree with you pilotboy, word for word. Volume does nothing when coaxed with the controls and now the songs refuse to react to the click two / three / four times rigmarole. I also use it at the gym. APPLE: I do not have the patience to wait for you guys to get your collective butts into gear on this one. I will be returning my 3rd Gen ipood stuffle to the store from which I purchased it. Disappointed, I must say, Apple. This was my first Apple product ever, and you sold me a lemon.

I have had 2 3rd Gen Shuffles malfunction on me in less than a week. I am really really upset about the run around I am getting from Apple Support on this and have been unable to get a straight answer from anyone. Obviously they put out a bad product of poor design and they need to make it right. I refuse to spend another dime on any Apple products and won't be purchasing music or videos for download until this issue is fixed. I was about to purchase an Iphone, not gonna happen. I was also thinking about a new lap top for school and work, no way. I will be putting this on my web profile and I am hoping others will do the same. Ignoring your customers is unwise..

Yeah, I'm very disappointed with Apple for releasing a product without testing it out 1st. The adverts all say that it's excellent product for athletes, it's actually worthless, a rip off as apple is blatantly stealing our money by giving products which fail after only a few hours of use! The older generation pods were of much better quality, i wonder what happened.

...same problem with the headphones when running.

So Apple Managers if by any chance you are reading any of these posts on your and various other blogs, you might want to add another column called "customer satisfaction" to your profit spreadsheets. The number of disgruntled users and lost customers must equal the number of iPod shuffle (3rd gen) sales.

Replacing the ill-designed earphones with the same faulty part and just ignoring the issue is obviously not solving the problem.

Why are you paying for an adapter to do the most functions? Pay for Shuffle, Pay for Itunes song, Pay for adapter to listen to your Itunes song on your shuffle with your own buds.. That is just plain STUPID... APPLE need a re-design and put the basic functions on their Shuffle..

Yeah well, whose going to let them know?? How do you give Apple feedback?

I just sent Apple my feedback on this very issue. And I totally gave them a piece of my mind.

I loved my shuffle 2nd gen. It has been with me on many runs. The 3rd gen is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever is accountable for approving the design should no longer be employed. What an awful design. I had to purchase the belkin adapter to make it work since the earphones that come with the system are not running friendly - they fall out. I agree with all previous posts - does apple even get that the people using the shuffle sweat, move and exercise - I think NOT!

I purchased the Ipod shuffle for my husband so he could use it at the gym. Unfortunately, he has only been using it for two weeks and has been experiencing the same problems. After running for a bit,
the volume goes low and you are unable to make it louder. It also starts repeating the same songs and
will not allow you to advance to other songs.
Apple - we need you to correct this issue.
