Bezel polished metal or chrome plate?

Hi

Is the iphone bezel polished metal or chrome plated I ask this because I want to buff some scratches out.

I know if its chrome plate ill rub to the base metal and ruin it so any ideas?

Im hopein its like silver you can buff it as much as you like!
