SACD-DTS format & blu-rays...

hi guys
recently i stumbled on an audio file in SACD-DTS format ( if that's the correct name..) & no matter what, i couldn't get it to play in iTunes : i converted it to AIFF , imported it into iTunes & when i press play it just ''blows & whistles away'' , no music, nothing !! can anyone please tell me if there is a decoder for such files out there ? i tried googling it up &....nothing ! also is there an external USB drive i can hook up to my Intel iMac that reads/records blu-ray ? any help would be very appreciated
many thanks
Nuno

iTunes doesn't support SACD or DVD-A so it's unlikely it would be able to convert files ripped from SACD or DVD-A disks.

At the moment Mac OS X doesn't support the playing of commercial Blu-Ray discs. For now at least if you want to play Blu-Ray movies on an Intel Mac you need to use Boot Camp and have a copy of Windows installed.

hi Z
& do you know of any ''player/converter'' that could turn those SACD files into say...AIFF for example ? like that i could store/play them through iTunes...
another thing , if i connect an external, USB blu-ray drive to my iMac won't i be able to play blu-rays through my Toast titanium 10 ? or convert them into any other watchable format ? sorry to pester.. 🙂
it's just that i have this album in SACD & this documentary in Blu-ray i so want to listen & watch !!
about installing Windows on my iMac , what would be the best version of it ( stablest, simplest..) & best software to ''run it'' - Boot Camp ?any other ? this is something i dread doing since Window's idiosyncracies & general ''clunkyness'' are what kept me from buying a computer for many, many years until i was introduced to Macs - i just loath the **** thing !!...LOL...**** ! so many questions...
thanks again

Sorry I don't know of anything that will convert SACD files to another format, I'm sure if there is a way you could find something by putting "SACD to Aiff" into your favourite search engine. I don't believe that at the moment there's an alternative to playing Blu-Ray discs on a Mac without using Windows. Even if Toast does support burning using Blu-Ray media, I suspect that since OS X itself doesn't support playing the discs it won't matter what other program you have installed. No doubt Blu-Ray support will be added to OS X but no one here on the forums would have any idea when Apple are planning for that to happen.
