Remote host did not accept data file

I am unable to print to my Epson PX700W printer. On my printer settings it displays my printer and can even see ink levels, so there must be some communication between the two. However when i try and print anything it comes up with the message "remote host did not accept data file". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software with no joy. Any suggestions??

Hello Beanst and welcome to Apple Discussions.

Based on the error message it would indicate that you are connecting to the printer using IP, either via the Ethernet or wireless. Since there are three protocols to choose from, you have probably selected one the printer does not support - or it is not currently enabled on the printer.

I suggest you delete the current printer queue and add it again, this time selecting IP > HP Jetdirect-Socket. This is known as Standard TCP/IP Port 9100 on Windows, and is often enabled by default for most network capable printers.

If Jetdirect doesn't work then you should print a config page from the printer. This will show what ports are currently enabled. You may also need to check with Epson to determine if there is a different driver for the network enabled version of this printer, in case the driver you are using is for USB connections only.

Well, I had a look at the Epson Europe web site for you and found the online guide. It states that this model supports Bonjour, which means you can add the printer via the Default browser view - not the IP view.

But it also shows that you need to use an Epson application called EpsonNet to help with configuring the device as a network printer.

Here's the link to the online guide

PS. Anyone that thinks Canon cannot write a manual should check out this piece of cr@p. No wonder people don't like to read manuals....
